If this is true,Do I need to replace the current router - ASUS RT-AX3000 for the 2Gbps service?

QUOTE(PRSXFENG @ Apr 12 2023, 08:14 PM) There really isnt much options to go 3rd party for the 2Gbps plan Let's say if some users choose to get a 3rd party router for the 2Gbps plan, what options are available on the market now?since the provided all in one modem/router doesnt have 2.5gbps ports, and doesnt support link aggregation either, you dont really have a way to replace it while keeping 2Gbps unless you go all out with GPON/XGPON SFP modules even if it did, that router also doesnt have 2.5gbps ports nor does it support link aggregation just take 1gbps and youll be fine, or use 2gbps with stock router |

QUOTE(aniq8676 @ Apr 12 2023, 08:50 PM) At least the 3rd party router option is available. QUOTE(Oltromen Ripot @ Apr 12 2023, 09:28 PM) ... but it requires the modem side i.e. ONT/ONR to support LACP protocol. Which mean the 3rd party routers have to know how to play nice together with the new BTU, which I expect TMNET would introduce for the new 1Gbps and 2Gbps packages. https://asus.com/support/FAQ/1039053 I would probably jump on the wagon for the 1Gbps upload speed to transfer 4k movie clips onto my online storage. The price, though. Hmmm. Edit: From Unifi webpage: ![]() They didn't mention it depends on the local hardware capability too. QUOTE(PRSXFENG @ Apr 12 2023, 10:47 PM) TM provided router needs to know what to do about 2 cables/ports being connected to the same router but seems like it does not support bonding, so it just wont work, both sides need to support bonding ![]() -> https://soyacincau.com/2023/04/12/2gbps-tm-...width-per-port/ <- This explains well. "Essentially, the 2Gbps Unifi plan is a 2x 1Gbps offering. This means if you run a speed test, you could only get a maximum of 1Gbps from a single device. Instead of a higher maximum speed (2Gbps), you have double the bandwidth (2x 1Gbps) that can support more devices in the same home. If you live in a double-storey house, you could possibly have one router upstairs with its own 1Gbps bandwidth, while the other router downstairs has its own dedicated 1Gbps bandwidth. " |

Given the hassle of setting up the 2Gbps, I might as well just upgrade to the 1Gbps package. The major downside is the 500Mbps upload speed.

QUOTE(Marcus Cody @ Apr 14 2023, 03:38 AM) I think Maxis is going to offer 1Gbps to its customer soon, I recently change to Maxis Family Fibre plan with 300mbps, and inside the contract they emailed me stating that I can upgrade to maxis family plan fiber 1Gbps at RM150/per month Speaking of Maxis, has its service been improved now, compare to previously.![]() |

Still thinking about upgrading to 1Gbps, or maybe 2Gbps (which is limited to their own hardwares, though)
My main reason is the upload speed, which I rely for online storages for my work until I can get bigger storage devices. Hmmm. 🤔 |
