Best option is to buy your own third party router to use. Their stock router is crap no matter what model or brand it is.

Modem can be exchange anytime because it belongs to TM. For router, just take whatever they give during installation and buy your own from outside.
They provide either Huawei or Kaon router. Modem will use back your existing one from TM. If your intention to switch is just to get a Wifi 6 router, I can say forget about it. Go get a Wifi 6 router like the TP-Link AX20, around RM2xx.

it doesnt matter which isp, all isp will give very cheap OR very locked down router (RG/home gateway) because

1. to cut cost
2. for maximum control and easier for tech support to control remotely

the best is to buy third party router no matter which isp you are going. the rest of experience depends on what website you/your family visit often. Unifi recently has bad routing cause slow loading/high latency/high packet loss to some international sites/online game servers in which other ISP can give you better experience in such usage case

no choice lo. because it's what you cannot control because is given randomly. you can switch to other ISP which give wifi 6 router or try luck ask unifi tech/installer to exchange to another one.

spend one time for better experience is worth because its yours to do whatever you want

The wireless range is pretty poor but if you can get a free 2nd unit, maybe can try if the mesh works. I'm surprised to find MESH mode setting in the router config page.

Spend for long term use. The router is not just for 2 years, but many years to come even if you switch to other provider next time. Not necessary you spend on RM1000 router, even those around RM300 also have Wifi 6.
The old modem you can keep. Need only 2 power sockets for modem and router. For phone you can reuse back old telephone, just connect it to the modem RJ-11 port.
Make sure technician check everything, including landline is working after installation.

I think you can only pray for Gobinh Singh to come back to get next round of turbo.

Hi, wanna ask. Are unifi account exchangeable?
Say I have 2 home unifi ( different location). 100mbps at kampung and 300mbps at home. Can I swap the router so that I get 300mbps at kampung and 100mbps at home?

If your router already have Unifi PPPoE login details it should be plug and play.

No need to setup. Just plug back the router and it's good to go.
I don't think so. The speed is capped at the exchange in your area.
The phone line is set in the modem which connect to the exchange at your area. You cannot swap the phoneline.

Is it because customer FFK in the first place? I just install unifi (or rather transfer from maxis). During registration, tm cs keep reminding me don't FFK the appointment. If you're not sure if you are free, then just ask them to reschedule. Once confirm and you FFK, there will be a charges to schedule another appointment. Mine only come to install a router and change lan port to 1st slot for unifi. Done within 10 minutes.

I dont know but most likely yes, since that's what my cs keep reminding me.

Myself and some others are 300mbps and got 300mbps SWU package (effectively discount RM10 as most of us were on the RM139 package).
