As per title, how do you enjoy jogging? I'm looking to start amping up my active lifestyle again after recovering from covid. So far my experience while jogging is I find it incredibly dull and uncomfortable (my skull feels like its shaking/pounding with every step). In daily life, I'm mildly active as I don't drive, and commute everywhere by walking and public transit. But I just can't seem to enjoy moving faster than brisk walking pace.

Hope some long time jogger sifus can share how do you guys do it? I want to open my mind towards it so I can improve my overall stamina.

Start light and easy

Set a distance target instead of a pace target

Slowly work your way up from there

the problem about keeping to an exercise is that when you don't enjoy it, you most likely will give up sooner or later. Perhaps you could try other exercises first, like swimming, even walking around the taman for one hour while listening to songs also considered as exercises, cycling or eliptical machines. When you find something you like then you keep at it and slowly venture into other things when the current exercise doesn't excite you anymore.

I think maybe can start bit by bit, from brisk walk to soft jog. Listening to music might also help. If really dislike it after a few attempt, can try other exercise like cycling, etc.

Start to make it a routine for 2 weeks. Get someone to accompany you, tell them it's good for health. Review your progress and repeat. Endure a little discomfort of breathing and you can improve cardiovascular functions

easiest way:

sign up a run. you will automatically train for it because you have a goal.

Thanks all for the replies. Looks like the key points for me is to start slow and steady. I guess I can start by brisk walking around my condo and add in some short jogs in an interval and aim for a few km. Thinking if I want to make things more interesting maybe go brisk walking at bigger parks like the one at KLCC park.

If you residing near the outskirt of the city, the best routine is to jog along the village road without much traffic, shaded with trees and you can enjoy the sceneries on your left & right. You will not realize how much the time have pass & the distance you have jog.

i have not been jogging for a long time. but i like doing it in a park where i can see nature. while jogging, i also try to see nature with my senses especially smell. yea. i try to breathe in those fresh air and take note of my body's movement while observing others. that's how i entertain myself.

otherwise, i will just imagine i'm running for my life in zombieland if i wanna run fast.
