Hi all, not sure if this thread have been created before as I can’t seem to find it.

Any home owners have installed smart door/digital lock for your unit? Want to ask for some advice & opinion on brands.

I’m looking to install a combo for my grill door + main door for my condo. I think security should be ok as long as I stick with fingerprint lock and not access card (otherwise if I drop the card then gg aredi).

Looking between these 2 brands after some budget survey:
1. Avant S10 Stainless Steel Combo. RM2299 with 3 years warranty (promo offer)
2. Abrain 304 Stainless Steel Combo. RM2268 with 3 years warranty (promo offer)

Both comes with free installation. Abrain only got showroom in Penang so I can’t test and feel the build quality.

I checked our Avant showroom and the S10 build quality is quite sturdy. Fingerprint sensor seems ok enough.

Good thing is if I buy Avant smart switches I can combo it with lights; close door liao then lights auto off haha.

I checked Bosch, Philips and Samsung but their pricing is quite kaw - just for main door already RM2K plus so it’s kinda out of my range.

Also checked out Aqara but apparently they’re removing/discontinuing partnership with Xiaomi?

Thoughts on the above? Would be nice if got owner here who have purchased these before to share your opinion after using it for few months.

Cheers!

try asking key shops around, the key shop i went was recommended by my contractor so i think thats why got discount
but no free gift (flask) as per the shopee link thou ... haha
so far all working nicely, the guy that came to install also was very professional, drill my door with ease and then touch up with putty as well.

1 thing i realize thou is that if i press my thumb sideways it cannot sense... must put up right.

How is your lock doing? A shop told me that push pull models which are fully automatic (deadbolts extend and retract automatically) need more strength to push or pull as there is no door handle to retract the latch?

Also, apparently, the same shop did not recommend push/pull models as the latch may sometimes get stuck due to the expansion/contraction of the wooden door due to the change of temperature/weather in Malaysia... hmm.gif

I was thinking of getting the Orvibo C1 but I came across this sad.gif

I'm not sure if getting the lock but never ever connecting it to the internet/bluetooth or any other wireless protocol will minimize risk or not?

4 months in and so far all works fine. i dont think i use alot of strength or effort to open and close door. however i do notice that if i close the door lightly sometimes the mortise do not fully engage - it engage halfway ... door is still lock but cannot open, will need to push in to fully engage the mortise then only can open again

Thanks for your response. "Mortise do not fully engage", do you mean the deadbolts does not extend/register?

the ones in green will fully lock
the one in red will not go in fully if sometimes i close the door lightly. so when this happen the door cannot open cause its not register as close. and cannot open cause the ones in green are fully engaged so preventing you from pulling the door open.

Thanks a lot. You echo-ed what Locks n More (a smartlock shop) told me about the latch getting jammed due to contraction and expansion of the wooden door.

Can your issue be remedied by making the hole for the latch bigger then?

Ohh so just push it in a bit and it is fine then?

Were there any instances where you really got locked out of your own door because either the deadbolt or latch malfunctioned?

Think with a door closer it help reduces and even eliminate this issue.. as the door closer take over the task of closing the door for you.

If the smart lock spoiled in few years, possible change back to regular lock at fire door? Because they had digged bigger hole to fit smart lock.

Samsung, Yale are all good but very expensive brand.
Chinese brands are cheap but unreliable.

I prefer something cheap, branded and reliable.

That is why I choose Siemens E350

After I have done some research , I finally choose Siemens E350 for RM1,500. Why I choose this? Main reason is the fingerprint for old folks.
A lot of brand fingerprints does not work with old folks whose fingerprints are faded.
Siemens E350 works very well. Both my father and mother who is more than 70 years old still can use their fingerprint to unlock the door. wink.gif

No need to shoot down chinese made locks, am sure the Siemens also make in China. You get what you pay for! If you pay a bit more, most reputable chinese brand has fingervein modules. It's not exactly rocket science that only "Siemens" can do

Hi, not sure if this is the correct thread to ask, but here goes.

I already bought Aqara A100 for my main wooden door. I’m planning to install a grille gate with digital lock as well. Is there any grille gate digital lock that can synchronise with the Aqara lock to unlock together?

I have a homebridge with zigbee controller, not sure if this helps in widening the available digital lock I can use for grille gate.

It will be a swing gate. I couldn’t find much info on gateman digital lock. Does it work on zigbee protocol and able to synchronise together with my Aqara A100?

I think i will not add a cover, hence Aqara U100 won’t be in my consideration.

Most gate digital lock will need to add another cover to prevent outside from touching the unlock button . If u don’t want to add cover u will need to find a double finger print or double unlock digital lock where both front and back will need have to scan to unlock .

Seems like smart door locks not too popular here. Thread so quiet. Anyway my experience.

Bought Aqara A100 for front door but aborted because not enough space from door to grill. Bought from Shopee Visiongadgetry. Installation is extra: RM200.

So settle for deadbolt and got Aqara U100 from Kilobits, Lazada. Surprise to learn that installation is included. Seller is in Penang and I'm in Kajang. I don't think the product description mentioned about free install. Anyway, deadbolt is quite easy so I installed myself.

Lock working good. Just using Apple Homekey & Siri for now. Not even paired to Aqara hub yet. The only surprise I had was U100 cannot use China Mainland server.

I got it from Kilobits as well.

Install on 8th March.
13th Apr no battery so change battery to Panasonic Evolta as per their advised.
14th May no battery again so complaint to them, and they send a new one to replace and install on 26th Jun.

After replacement so far no issue *touch wood*.
