QUOTE(matrix88 @ Mar 5 2022, 06:30 PM) dont think giant dare doing so.but thanks to rampant parallel import activities, shell need to re-adjust their "untuk pasaran malaysia" model pricing. shell helix ultra 5w-40 (untuk pasaran malaysia) can be purchase as low as rm128 now (not retail price of course) https://www.lazada.com.my/products/shell-he...7606pK1qcS&mp=1 This post has been edited by zerorating: Mar 5 2022, 06:39 PM |

They just buy and sell, U think anyone or chapalang suppliers can put their stocks in hypermarket? Shell MY got come out statement , not dare say hypermarket sell fake oil , thy only say not for "pasaran MY" and say wat quality different . Let say same oil SN or SP grade , those grading even come from West , how different? MY do the grading? Like saying Intel i5 oversea different from Intel i5 pasaran MY , do u believe lol? I am confident the same will be said in 20 years time (actually 0-20W has been in the market almost 10 years already, Idemitsu introduced it USA in 2010). I'm guessing you are talking about valve covers as these are the most common for oil leaks due to this issue. People normally concern about thin viscosity oil is on the main bearing journals, those are metal to metal surface riding on a very very thin film of oil. Also there’s a belief that as engines wear out the piston bore clearance becomes larger, and that thicker oils will leak thru less into the combustion chamber. QUOTE(zerorating @ Mar 6 2022, 01:57 AM) 5 years is too short to judge brah. how the pomen confirm is head gasket? can see oil leaking out between the block and head? if oil leaking into the coolant that is bad enough d. (there is actually a tool to confirm head gasket leak, see video link) I dont think your head gasket issue caused by oil viscosity, FYI, head gasket now all are made from MLS (multi layer steel), no rubber or silicon inside.my car only start leaking after 18 years, change from 5w30/10w30 to 10w40 baru okay but still got abit leak. go ask pomen they said not recommended to change head gasket (valve cover gasket is not a concern, can easily replaced), unless got major issue(e.g engine overheat) or engine stop working. most people that not driving like mad man don't really care about metal to metal contact, as long it got lubricant(e.g decent oil level) okay already. main reason the manufacturers want to switch to thinner oil is the fuel efficiency gain. QUOTE(CoffeeDude @ Mar 5 2022, 05:52 PM) I did purchased and use on my Toyota. At first it was fine, then after 3000k+ I can feel the car begin to sluggish pick up and fuel consumption drop by 15%. Nothing wrong with temperature, still normal. From that experience alone I know the quality is not there for that price rm99 from Tesco back then. Now I purchased from petronas or shell store even though the price slight higher, but the car improved overall in fuel consumption n pick up power. |

If scared counterfeit , just buy from petrol station.
Cost a little bit more, but get peace of mind, and that feeling is priceless ! |

Couldnt find any Shell engine oil, may I know which Giant got? either go Giantor go Tesco buy Dynolube basically is same thing QUOTE(Exeunt @ Mar 16 2023, 02:53 PM) buy for NA car should be fine ..but make sure atleast it's from hypermarket instead of online unknown source QUOTE(Afterburner1.0 @ Mar 16 2023, 03:03 PM) if you are having NA car which does not have strict requirement on engine oil ..thats fine for rebottle oil is takut oil might not achieve 100% standard as per claim |
