Their national language is English? They stick to their non-English languages. Why Malaysia cannot?

skewed mindset. It is citizenship, not menumpang u joker.
There is no problem with intention of peralihan which objective is to help student to transit better to secondary. The problem is effectiveness of its intervention

Problem with this ruling now is there is no more UPSR which standard and same across all SRK/SRJK, but the grading is based on the exam from the individual school itself.

So if some school got easy questions then is it fair to other school students?

I don't mind if BM is a must pass subject. It's the national language after all. Whether it's useful or not is irrelevant. But there are two main problems with the current implementation.

Students from SK are not subjected to this proficiency test. Why? By excluding them, it makes it discriminatory.

The second issue is we could've curbed this problem earlier on. If we see a child is having problems with BM say in Year 3, we could intervene much earlier and not wait until they graduate from Year 6.

See my earlier post #128.

The announcement was that an assessment test is going to be implemented...

It's not SK or SJK actually, it's race.

During my time, for UPSR in SJK if you're a non malay and couldn't get a C in BM, you'll go for remove class. If you're malay and in SJK, you can go form 1 even if you can't get a C in BM laugh.gif

Ok then Japanese national language is nihongo, China national language is Mandarin. So shouldn't they speak English instead of their national language? Why English must be national language of a country where the population not a native speaker of that language?

If you want to argue based on time, then before British came to Semenanjung, people there use English issit?

Geez, some people here macam those who don't want to learn English because it's bahasa orang kafir.

nope,.. u been twisting the subject,.. our conversation is derived from whether migrant is determine by language,.. thats why all those national language vs useable language argument,..

Negara besar daya saing kuat dan inovasi. GDP 2nd and 3rd in world. Orang lain akan ikut dan pergi belajar bahasa mereka
Takkanlah negara kecil macam Malaysia pun ingat ada orang mau datang belajar BM.

SG is a classic success example of emphasising on right language

You are right that BM is basic language and not hard to learn.
The question is very need put so much effort to learn something with minimum value in future life. Just learn up to normal daily communication enough.

Worse see a lot Malay degrade the language to rempit level while asking other to mengagungkannya. 😅
*
Because this is Malaysia? Language is an identity to all Malaysians, doesn't matter what race you are, so I don't think it is too much to master our national language, I've seen too many Chinese from SJK who couldn't speak proper Malay, which is sad la. I'm from SJK btw.

But nobody is asking everyone to MASTER malay language... just a certain level determine by a new assessment test to enter form one or "foundation class".

See my earlier post, #128.
