Hi

Need your advice please

Ground floor planning to relocate wc from one end to the other as shower in the center causing water to splash all over after showers.

Question. Relocation requires digging into the ground obviously but will this activity cause any damage to the whole development eg unit above to collapse etc? The thought concerns me... thank you

really really hard process, as the pipe extends to the unit below you.
you may need to raise your toilet floor for this to happen

Thanks for your response.

The good thing, I think, about my unit is that it is on the ground floor, there’s no unit below me, so floor raising isn’t required as far as I know. Stupid toilet design is pissing me off, stupid designer put shower in center even my late grandmom could design better 😖

Firstly, your condo mgmt allow ?

On the probability they allow, I would say they want you to sign an undertaking letter to bear all future problems relating to sewerage issues in the block.

If you proceed to do it illegally and if they find out, they can stop your contractor from entering the condo. They will require you to restore to the original and to pay a higher guaranteed deposit b4 they allow the workers inside again.

Again on the probability you can complete it illegally, and should there be a problem in the building sewerage system and they trace it to you unit, they can again compel you to restore it to the original, else they take you to court.

When buying off drawing plans, that is the risk compared to buying subsale. Also when living in strata, everyone must follow the rules and to seek permission for every action on the property.

So is either accept the design or sell the property. No other options.

Highly unlikely you will be able to relocate the WC. You may attempt by seeking the permission by the MO first as the relocated position of the WC may affect the discharge point to the internal inspection chamber. The foreseeable constraint :-

1) The new sanitary pipe from WC to the existing IC, I believe the existing discharge point will be isolated & terminated. For the condo / high righ, the ground beam will be deep depending on the high of the building. Assuming the building is very high, the building ground beam depth easily 900mm (D). To reroute the sanitary plumbing discharge from the WC with 900mm ground beam depth is almost impossible without hacking the beam ( MO won't allow you to hack ).

2) Due to constraint of the ground beam depth , your alternative will be using "P" trap fro WC instead of the "S" trap. The good thing about the "P" trap, you don't have to go below the ground beam and you can just penetrate the discharge horizontally before offset it & look for suitable spot to drop it to below ground level & finally discharge to the existing IC. The setback of this, there will be a short length sanitary pipe that will be exposed in slanted position (gravity flow) visible inside your toilet & visible at the external side of the wall until the pipe is dropped to the ground - aesthetic setback. The MO may not allow you to do so.
