I just bought a new 400d, I'm shortsighted and i find that its hard for me to use manual focus? When i try to snap something in a wide space and i wanted to make my object to be clear and blury at the background, in the view finder, i can't tell whether my object is in focus or not..
I wear contact lens, and i also tried wearing specs but it still the same..
i wonder does this happens to other photographer as well? izzit you guys just snap the photo agar agar? or its just happens to me only.. sad.gif

Nope, it's beside the view finder. but it doesn't help much either.
Sometime i just snap the photo and try to see it in the screen, when i see it in the screen it looks fine, but when upload to the computer, the photo actually blurred!!

Could be a number of things:

1. You moved when you snapped the picture.
- Happens when you don't use a fast enough shutter speed.

2. Subject moved when you snapped the picture.
- Same as above, certain situations require certain speeds to stop motion.

3. Your subject was out of focus.

But we can't really tell unless you post a picture for an example.

well, i think that's normal.

I rely on the focus indicator which appears in the view finder... Surely Canon has that, no?

Let the camera do the work for you. Pick the focus point closest to your subject and use it to focus until you get the red focus confirmation light. Then snap the picture immediately before your body sways the camera out of focus. Or you can even take several snaps of the same scene, but rock your body slightly forward and backwards for each shot. Remember to hold still when taking the pic biggrin.gif

I'm wearing glasses too, and its quite hard to ensure things are in focus by relying on my own eyes, even after adjusting the diopter thingy at the viewfinder.

this one always happen la. to solved this, each time u view a picture in LCD, zoom in on it. this will tell if the pic u just took blurred or not. i'm suing a 350D, lagik kecik LCD. ahahhaa... about the focusing of the viewfinder, the optic thingy is the only thing u can do. i dont wear my glasses when i'm shooting, the diopthic helps...
