Hi guys,

i would like to request your help in below issue regarding my kitchen top tiles, after kitchen top tiles work finished, my contractor arrange for trimming/polishing of tiles sharp edges but in return there were darker colour line unevenly, any idea to overcome/cover/correct the line ( i am ok to accept the darker tone line but it wasn't straight tbh)

Tried to ask my contractor but seems like no positive outcome, finger pointing game is not going to help anyway

so any suggestion/idea would be welcome cry.gif

It will have some different shades with the top but not to your extend.

You seen him doing the polishing ? Could it be high heat reaction during polishing that cause the dark tone ?

Anyway, handwork finishing can seldom be 100% straight ... is about skill.

i agree and understand there will be different shades after polishing sharp edges and i wasn't there (yea i admit, my bad)
understand the handwork will never be perfect as well, but was looking for a way to cover up or at least make the line even icon_question.gif

Use putty filler to cover uneven area and paint over it with colour that match.

I cant confirm but as and when it comes off, have to redo.

I dont see any other way, besides retile.

Check with your contractor whether he he can modify and add this ....

The dark line is just the result of exposed tile base material color, not due to heat or anything. Painting over it is not good idea because for table top it is exposed to hot and cold pot and bruises on daily table top routine. It should be just slightly grind just to make it not too sharp edges.

I'm afraid that there is nothing much you can do about it unless you can find something like edge protector but it will add some thickness and cause dirt accumulate along its line. I'm not sure if there is any contractor that can do precise polishing with some guide tool that will ensure constant angle and depth that will leave the base color looks straight.

Looking at the picture, if the polishing guy was using his steady hand, I'd say he has done very fantastic job already wink.gif

Looking at your photo again, I think the edges are painted over by the contractor.

You can request him to polish another lose piece to see if is the same result or you can diy using a sandpaper.
