Laptop Cooling Pad - Good or Bad, Doing more harm or good if using it ?

Dear Lowyat Sifu,
I have mixed answer when I ask should I buy a laptop cooling pad for my gaming laptop. Some say it is bad as dust will accumulate faster inside your laptop & some say it will help to cool down you laptop temp if the GPU or CPU overheat.
Would like to know all sifu's opinions on this issue.

YES - BENEFIT USING IT (GOOD)
NO - CAUSE MORE HARM IN LONG RUN (BAD)

Laptop cooling pad works by having extra fans to blow air into the vents at the bottom of the laptop. Its not that effective but still works to a certain extend. |

Depends on the laptop design. Modern laptop vents to the backside, intake in the middle, no cooling on other area. A simple 2 fan laptop cooler will cool the other area such as SSD/HDD and battery.

No need cooling pad. It won't help much.
Just lift the back side of your laptop slightly higher like using a mineral water cap.

can u share us what model do u use?
so that we know what build(aluminium or plastic) and where is the air vent of ur laptop
then we can help advice if extra cooling pad is needed or not

Just buy standing fan. Ayam been using it since buying gaming laptop. Laptop never get hot. Ayam oso dapat kipas direct for me. It's a win-win situation for me.

Make sure Ur laptop itself ez to open and clean the dust. Cooling pad works la to certain extend. Somemore elevate the laptop to a certain height.

i used a cooling pad before but not much difference, now i cabut the fan and just use the metal as a stand sahaja.
yang penting tukar thermal paste
