Need help on this matter. Want to sell my car but dont know which platform better. Anyone try selling their car on Carsome / mytukar / MUV before?
How was the process? Can I reject the selling / bidding price offered?

I suggest you to arrange inspection at Carsome & MyTukar on the same day - one morning, one afternoon. There is no rejection fee. Both Carsome & MyTukar charges RM500 handling fee once you agree & handover the car to them.

You need to be ready to handover your car as both of their process is quite quick:
Day 1 - Inspection
Day 2 - Live Bidding
If accept, the next following day need to handover to agent. Get paid within 1 day iinm.

MyTukar can buy directly from you - and if agree, immediately handover to them and get paid within a few hours.

Assisted my sister to sell her car via Carsome over 2 years ago. After inspection, they came with an offer which was too low. Rejected and placed in bidding instead. Her car was a Honda City which was an easy sell. The bid offer came back about RM7k more than what Carsome offered. She sold it straight away.

i've used Carsome 3 times so far.

1st time - bidding
2nd time - outright sales
3rd time - outright selling to them.

if you car have outstanding you will just need to arrange 1 day go together with their rep to settle off your debt. What i love about Carsome they don't low ball you like how the typical 2nd hand dealer in the sales office would usually do.

I have not done mytukar and MUV before tough.

The handling fee is only if you put it up for bidding. If you sell to them directly there are no handling fee.

The last time I tried to sell my car to a used car dealer and complained about his low offer, he actually advised me to try carsome laugh.gif

sold my 2003 merc to my tukar...... carsome gave me a low price..... mytukar also gave me a low price initially, then went for auction, still too low.... then they bought it from me directly at a riduclious price.... the open market value for my car to the end user is between 20-23k..... mytukar bought it from me at 20k....

I've sold 2 cars to Carsome previously, one via direct offer sale and the second via bidding. Process was quick and efficient. Price via bidding is a few Ks higher, depending on make/model of car.

all depends on how desperate u are to sell the car..... even though i got a higher value during bidding, i held on till they asked me how much i actually wanted for the car..... you'll be suprised as to how much more u can get..... ask for the lower end of end user value.... it;s still much higher than the bidded value

Actually if u have the time just sell on your own at fb marketplace.

Carsome wanted around 25k for the old 2012 vw passat b7 we had..

Used car dealer wanted 21k. Sold to a buyer on fb marketplace for 34k..

And the moment i list the car on fb marketplace everyday kept getting around 3-4 enquiries every day, the buyer that bought it over is the second one after he test drove it. Even now after selling the car still getting people enquiring about the car.. had to reply that the car is sold..

If it's so easy for everyone to sell to direct buyer summore at a higher price then everyone would do it.

Notwithstanding the part where one would need to handle some of the paperwork themselves that runners cannot do, there is also the matter of personally meeting potential buyers and letting them test drive, which is a whole other can of worms that not everybody wants to risk, furthermore in the midst of a pandemic.

going to sell off my car soon.

would want to try out mytukar see what's is their offer

btw, once send in your car for valuation how long the offer last?

on the 2nd thought want to sell it via mudah.my, but somehow limited freetime to meet up people especially covid pandemic period.

getting stranger to test your car to their liking/expectation and pending decision from potential buyer 1 to 10.

no doubt lastime i have sold my car via mudah.my, selling by myself.

driving to puspakom for ownership transfer B5 inspection.

then make appointment with buyer go jpj meet up take number long Q for ownership transfer ( need thumbprint and IC ), then he just buy a new insurance cover (roadtax still valid).

then hand in the cash, and you pass him the key, good hand shake, say goodbye. tongue.gif

maybe direct selling via mudah.my can get few k higher, but time taken, need to apply annual leave to go puspakom and jpj also counted.

If you opt for bidding, are you forced to sell it at the last bid amount? Let's say car is worth RM20K, but during bidding the highest bid is RM15K only. Can you reject to sell?

Yes can reject.

Additionally, last time I checked, if the highest bid is lower than what they initially offered you, you can still take their initial offer. Eg, carsome offered you 20K, but you want to put it up for bidding. The highest bid only 15k, you can reject that and take carsome's initial offer of 20k.

Not sure if that's still true now, you can ask them.
