I have been posting here about getting a new car and I am settled on getting a persona. It seems to fit my requirement of a wanting good boot space with good handling as well.

But now the question is which variant is value for money?

I have got advice that the premium is not worth as you only get the hi proton additionally, while some have told me that the standard is better value than executive as the additions are minimal?

Personally was thinking about the executive because the brown seats and black top looks odd to me, plus the hi proton seems like a gimmick.

Also, is the touch panel really much better than the biasa one? I have just propped my phone on a holder all this while.

What do you think? Your feedback is much appreciated, especially from current persona owners (mc2).

Difference is more or less extra add-ons/accesories/Hi Proton. Mechanically wise there is not much different from Executive. If I were you i take the mid range and keep the money for something else thumbup.gif cos I dont fancy those extra in premium

If you're family man & it is a family car, get the Premium. It has 6 airbags & leatherette seats. The seats are easy to clean any spills.

If you're a lone driver most of the time, get the executive. Although it has fabric seats & 4 airbags, it has reverse camera & also front parking sensors. Convenient features to have.

Airbags will not guarantee 100% your safety.
I know most of them ask for 1000 airbags or else will not buy one.

Proton should've offered 6 airbags across the who Persona range.

With taller SUVs flooding the roads these days, a side impact from these vehicles is aimed straight at your upper torso and head if you're in a sedan/hatchback car. A curtain airbag could be the difference between life and death.

I would choose the top spec for the sole reason of 6 airbags.

Cant comment on this newest features on the car. But based on current using of Iriz 1.6 CVT, these are my things that i dislike. FC kinda not that great maybe due to old campro engine, daily drive kl work give around 11-12km/l per full tank. Cvt supposed to give low rpm at highway cruising, but not on this punch cvt, 120kmh rpm kinda high. The main is jerkiness at start stop due to clutch based mechanism.

to TS: get whichever specs you can afford.
ideally the premium cuz of additional safety, and that's how China Geely marketing works that all the good parts are there while the lower trim caters to affordability and budget.

OT:
post geely i have experienced zero jerkiness from the transmission or any stop go situation.
i do know how to drive a manual dry clutch based car so maybe that helps smile.gif

FC can easily hit well over 16 if i desire so on highways, on city can easily go between 10-13 while still enjoying a good full throttle spirited drive.

Other than good parts/features/extra safety does the build quality differ between variants? eg the lowest spec and high spec car are build properly? brows.gif

I believe they are the same build quality

I've not come across any information that says otherwise and it isn't in Geely Proton best interest to shun away lower spec buyers (or even cheaper Proton Saga, which is still their best seller)

Good to hear about tat. it would be suicidal if geely proton dictate their build quality based on the car trim level shocking.gif

Just felt sometime they spec certain thing only to top end when it should be available too all variant (eg led light which they did for x50)

now that you mentioned difference in equipment, such as Halogen or LED headlamps, tires are also an important difference in quality that will vary on different trims.
for example, Proton lower spec Persona will have Silverstone tires, while the premium top trim will have Good year Assurance TripleMax / TripleMax 2 (i am not sure what the new 16" tires wear) that is for sure quality is better than Silverstone.

now, overall build quality definitely shouldn't be compromised, just that the tires being supplied by different manufacturers definitely will have different quality as they have different price and costing.
Proton definitely isn't the only one to do it as Honda Civic top trims get the awesome Michelin Pilot Sport 4 while the lower trims get less than stellar Continental Max Contact.

If buying Executive variant can we change to LED headlamps similar to the Premium version?

For lower grade variants, they are now fitted with Atlas AS380 tyres instead of Silverstone Kruizers. Not sure if these are better or not.

The premium spec is fitted with Goodyear Assurance Triplemax 2.
