Hi all, appreciate if anyone can help me out on this:

I have met minor accident recently.. if I already sent car for repair in nearby workshop..

Can I still claim from my insurance company after that?

Just check my policy it was under comprehensive package. TQ!

If you made police report then insurance mighy emtertain you

Police report is a must first, either it is towed to the police station or police come to the scene to snap pictures for evidence..

If is not too expensive to repair, pay own to keep ncb if insured value is high. Not forgetting the police summon.

Police report by both party if involved with other car. If self accident also need police report. Usually insurance will ask to send to panel workshop and the workshop will settle the claim part. For some insurance like Kurnia, you can go to the branch to ask for claim within 48hrs of accident and they pay you directly, can go to workshop yourself. I got rm1.9k for a minor accident from kurnia

If you don’t mind burning your NCD and pay the summon (if you’re at fault), then why not?

Your policy, your choice.

Depends on the sarjan judgement of who's at fault. The one at fault pay for all.

She has to convince the sarjan that the accident was unavoidable/out of her control.
If her reason is "couldn't brake in time", it probably will be her fault even though she already did the best to turn.

BEST care to avoid an accident is not to follow close,

go learn 3 seconds rules.

As long the fifth car claim against your insurance, it doesnt matter anymore whether the rest claim against your insurance.....you lose the ncb anyway.

Is your duty now to lodge the accident report with your insurance co, failing which the insurance can disclaim liability and registered owner have to bear consequences to pay for the damages.

Are you sure? I thought it was 3rd party claim against the car directly behind you.

E.g. Car 1 claim against Car 2, Car 2 claim against Car 3 ....

Only Car 1 can escape from losing the NCD.

edit: found a source, although not sure about the NCD.

I guess TS is new to this, so a few questions to help him out:

1) When was the accident?

2) Any police report made?

3) Who's at fault?

4) How minor is the damage? Cost of repair?

5) How many % is your NCD? if you are not sure, can refer to the policy

But since you said the repair has been done, i guess it might be a bit too late to make the claim already. Since normally the adjuster will need to come and check out the extend of the damage before approving the claim amount.

Thanks. Best to have actual cases.

In any case, I found the BNM guidelines for chain collisions. Pg 4/8

If it is minor repair of few hundred, just pay with your own money if it is your fault.

If other people's fault, claim from that person insurance company.

Once you claim from your insurance, the insurance company don't give you 25% discount anymore for 5 years.
Nobody told me that, so I had to pay the full premium for 5 years.

Insurance companies are scam

Seriously you paid full premium for 5 years without any discount? It should be reset to 0% the next year and start accumulate to 55% after 5th year.

Which insurance company was that?

I think his choice of words deceived you. It's more like he made a claim, lose his ncd, then had to use another 5 years to accumulate to 55%. But I don't think he realized even 2nd year renewal already got 25% ncd.

Is auto deducted when renew online or over the counter, UNLESS one go through agents. But then again, the renewal cert will show the detailed payment.
