After watching petr cech and cudicini being knocked unconscious, and then john terry being kicked in the face, and then antonio puerta collapsing, and then last week blackburn player samba being kicked behind the head by sheva, I am now a little bit worried to play futsal or football without any medical expert or doctors nearby sweat.gif

What if suddenly we are kicked right in the face and swallowed our tongue ? Do u think ur frens know what to do ? Or maybe we broke our neck, etc

Any expert here can share what we can do in case something like this happen to us ?

Here are some links related to football/sports injuries, but i cant seem to find anything on what we should do in case of a concussions. Hopefully u guys can contribute icon_rolleyes.gif

you'll never know what ur opponent gonna do. Especially when playing in tournaments, where they tend to be very aggresive. Even if u kena hit by the ball also can pengsan wat

I myself almost kicked my teammate in the face. Coz he fell down right infront of the ball when im about to shoot. Luckily kena the ball, and it wasnt a powerful shot. So we all laughed about it

Broke my metatarsal and tore some ligaments last year playing futsal. Was playing as GK then. Normal I think. It is a contact sport afterall, bound to be injured one time or another. My foor still hurts after I play futsal nowadays though. Guess the ligaments are not fully healed yet.

Well i must agree that futsal and football is kinda dangerous as it is a contact sports,

But what i think is that from the injuries u see from professional football will not usually occur in your game... that is due to the fact that they are professional and we are not, they have been trained so well that they can actually inflict serious damage to opponent without doing it on purpose, what i mean is that they are really well build... strong body so their kick is like almost 5 times a casual player's kick... so logically the damage they cause is also alot more higher lo haha...

And another thing is that they put everything out to win! so they are much more aggressive than a normal game.

Good example would be like when top teams meet each other and when the stake is higher, you will tend to see more aggression and more cards being flashed... simply because the player are desperate to win!

Good topic TS. Anyway I thought I might share this with you guys.

Signs of a concussion are as follows:
1. Blurred vision
2. Slurred speech
3. Delayed (or incoherent) verbal and motor responses
4. Drowsiness
5. Confusion
6. Memory loss
7. Persistent headaches
8. Dilated pupils
9. Uncoordinated movement
10. Loss of balance
11. Seizures
12. Inability to focus
13. Bleeding or bruising behind the ears
14. Sudden changes in personality or mood swings
15. Inability to perform simple tasks and calculations

If you're afraid brain damage may have occurred look for these signs:
1. Headache
2. Unconsciousness
3. Pale skin
4. Unequal size of pupils
5. Difficulty speaking
6. Clear or reddish fluid draining from ears, nose, or mouth
7. Paralysis of an arm or leg opposite the side of the injury to the head.
8. Paralysis of the face on the same side as the head injury.

While waiting for medical assistance to arrive (First Aid):

It seems as though the person has suffered more than just a bump on the head, and you have called for medical assistance you may perform the following steps to help the person.

1. While waiting for medical assistance lay the victim lying down in the recovery position. (Head lowered and legs elevated, loosen any tight clothing, apply cool, damp cloths to face and neck (if available) )
2. Make sure the victim is breathing properly
3. Control any bleeding
4. If the victim becomes unconscious for any amount of time, make sure to note this information and report it when medical help arrives.
5. Even if they complain of thirst DO NOT give the victim anything to drink.

futsal here played in aggressive way because will still played it the way we played on the field. especially in tournament and the way i see it , injuries can easily happen. the real futsal that i watched has very minimum contact. huhuhu. plus we just play for fun and not professional.

if the person is unconscious, water may enter into and flood the lungs, which may cause oxygen deficiency for the injured and may lead to death...

serious injuries while playing football? few comes to mind. first, torn my ACL during field football cos of a bad tackle by opponent, out of commission for almost 2 years. went to public hospitals first, thought it was meniscus damage, went for op, rehab, then back to playing. but leg still shaky. went specialist pulak, confirmed ACL torn, went for op, rehab, and finally back to playing...futsal. rehab sucks, somemore must do between 4-5 times a day. walked with crutches. really don't want to do that anymore...

2nd, incident during field football too. this guy nicely stepped on the ball, slipped, patah ankle. no pressure from anyone somemore, just bad luck i guess.

of course, 2 isolated incidents in my 10+ years playing so the probability is quite low lah. goes to say that you can't avoid anything, what with footy being a contact sport, bound to have injuries every now and then. some major, some minor. more of luck, plus some other external factors i guess.

and easypeasy's tips are spot-on. we would do well to follow when another fellow footy player gets injured during football or futsal.

My list of injury is long - dislocated shoulder after opponent landed on it in a challenge, damaged knee ligaments after being sent flying in a bad tackle and hairline fractured my tibia after falling and rolling my ankle badly while stretching for a loose ball. 2 months ago suffered a hairline fracture to my toe / metatarsal after kicking opponents foot instead of the ball after he nicked the ball away at the last moment when i tried to shoot. Contemplating to retire from playing completely, since i seem to have the worse luck when it comes to injury. doh.gif
