40GB PS3 features 65nm Cell processor

user posted image

According to Engadget, the new 40GB PS3, which officially launches in the U.S. on November 2, will feature a cooler-running 65nm Cell processor.

The move to a 65nm process allows power consumption to drop from 200 Watts down to a more palatable 135 Watts. The PS3 also has a new motherboard revision complete with an update Southbridge. The heatpipe used to cool the Cell processor has also been reduced in size thanks to the less demanding cooling requirements.

Heat problems haven't really plagued Sony's PS3 as they have the Xbox 360, but the move to 65nm technology should help Sony to trim manufacturing costs.

The 40GB PS3 has a price tag of $399.99 and will ship with a cop of Spider-Man 3 on Blu-ray. In order to reach the sub-$400 price point, the 40GB PS3 has no PS2 backwards compatibility, lacks a memory-card reader and features two fewer USB 2.0 ports than its more expensive 80GB brother.

Download link: Classy Pink Theme

After you have finished downloading the P3T file, create a new folder PS3/THEME inside you thumbdrive or MemoryStick and copy over the P3T files.

Then, just activate the themes from the XMB. thumbup.gif

Note: You can also create your own themes using the PS3 Custom Theme Tool.

just wish they give me a folder to organize my video  cry.gif

icon_idea.gif rclxms.gif I found the way to create folder to organize your videos.

Go to Video and press 'Triangle' on any of your videos, and select 'Information'.

Here you will see 'Album' field can be enter. So, just put for example 'Movie Trailer' or 'Game Trailer'. Then, your videos will be sorted and listed in their respective folders.

thumbup.gif

EDIT: You can do the same steps for Photos and Games as well. Don't forget to press 'Square' to toggle the group content (By Month, By Year or By Album). So, just toggle to 'By Album' to organize your files in folders.

Ninja,

That's the only way to do it eh? I managed to it that way earlier, but I thought I'm doing it wrong because it's so counter intuitive. I'm expecting something like the playlist organization, which is really nice by the way.

One thing I noticed though, your movie icons won't animate once they're grouped. Games seems to animate just fine though.
*
I guess that's the only way. Was hoping there's a selection to create new folder, and then later can just move all the files inside. That would be easier. laugh.gif

1 more thing.. The folder organisation is for the current user only.. If only they affect all user accounts sad.gif

You can login other user accounts, and straight away press Square to toogle to 'By Album'. And your files will be sorted as well according to the main user account.

EDIT: verced, we posted same thing at the same time. tongue.gif laugh.gif

Nope, yadda, nashi, cannot also. Force display to 720p, still got the same 'Please insert your bloody damn disc' error. laugh.gif Checking the proxy server log, there's no indication of region checking through online activation.

DivX coming to PS3

user posted image

DivX today announced that the company will deliver DivX video technology to Sony's PlayStation 3. To date, over 100 million DivX Certified products have been shipped into the market, and the company expects this number to rise significantly with the new PS3 addition.

Products that bear the DivX Certified logo have undergone a rigorous testing program to ensure a high-quality DivX media experience that includes reliable video playback and excellent visual quality. DivX is currently working to certify the PlayStation 3.

"We are excited to work with Sony Computer Entertainment to bring DivX to PS3," said Kevin Hell, CEO of DivX, Inc. "Our technology will expand the multimedia functionality of PS3 by enabling users to enjoy access to the broad library of content in the DivX digital media format."

Current PS3 end users will be able to add DivX functionality to their system via a separate system software update at a forthcoming date. PS3 game title developers will be able to utilize DivX's decoder technology by updating the system software of PS3's SDK to version 2.00, which was released by Sony on November 2.
