Yes.. given that the modem is connected via LAN cable, not USB cable (for USB modems)

Yeah it's the same thing. However normally if the modem can act as bridge mode (dialling by PC), I think it can be converted into router mode (the modem dials itself). Just give the modem model number so I can find more info about it

Of course you can. However do make notes of existing configuration before changing it into router mode

And I heard that PS3 from other region don't need adapter as well but I can't confirm as I don't have them. but a few forumers have a japan unit and I believe one of us here have a US set.
