QUOTE(tslim2531 @ Jan 18 2008, 12:40 PM) Just now went to Nibong Tebal showroom, the front still havent display. So I walked to the BACK of the showroom. Then I saw all sales rep are being briefed about the car. There was a black SAGA there waiting to be washed as it is quite dirty due to rain yesterday when delivery. The sales rep allows me to sit inside and have a look. From what I saw, it is very very IMPRESSIVE work by PROTON !! All material is very solid and I dont see much cost cutting effort in this car. The dashboard plastic is a little better than MYVI plastic. And the door side also has some fabric finishing. Oh no... how long do i have to wait to get my car la like that... Heheh, its a positive problem!!I am more than 6 foot tall and what I can say about the SAGA is that it is very very spacious inside. Even when the front seat is pulled all the way to the back, I still can sit comfortably at the back with a little legroom to spare!! The seats are very comfy fabric. Sitting at the back seat, the feel is more or like the HONDA CITY where the headroom and legroom is very impressive. The steering is like the Satria NEO but there was no any audio control button. However, the three spole steering is kinda too thick which obstruct the view of the meter panel. When I requested the sales person to start the engine, well the sound of starting is VERY VERY COOL!! (Just like what you hear in those VIOS and CITY, no longer rough starting sound like LMST) The engine sound is very quiet indeed. However, I havent started the air-con, so still dunno how loud will the air con will produce (hopefully not like the crazy loud sound from LMST There was a total of 5 cup holders two at the front , one at the centre between the two seats, and 2 at each doors (under side of it). The glovebox is still the same as SAVVY and the feel of closing it is sad to say , same as before The boot is considered large for this kind of car size, the light was at the middle top and the usable space is very reasonable. One thing worth to mention for this SAGA is it have a FULL SIZE spare tyre under the boot!! All seems good to this SAGA and I can definitely say that this will be the HOTTEST SELLING CAR in 2008!! |

QUOTE(inoitu @ Jan 18 2008, 04:28 PM) Looks very different than the peek pics all these while, more like the old Saga. Even the back looks like the one it's replacing, from what I see on TV. Really? Have we been tricked all this while? I'm gonna go to Proton edar at 6 to find out for myself anyways.Added on January 18, 2008, 4:36 pmWith the long list of bookings the old saga continues with 2nd Hand vehicle prices being higher than New ones! |

QUOTE(asamjawa @ Jan 18 2008, 05:34 PM) for which model?Added on January 18, 2008, 5:39 pm QUOTE(Parrot @ Jan 18 2008, 05:30 PM) Somewhere between 20 to 30 for a place that could hold four or five cars. There were stereo systems with loud music, BLM posters, brochures and tube-shaped blowers. 20-30... not too bad la.This post has been edited by Suave: Jan 18 2008, 05:39 PM |

QUOTE(bibombio @ Jan 19 2008, 12:50 PM) can i ask something here? new proton saga as compared to Nissan Latio, which is better? in fuel consumption, engine, interior, exterior.. u can't compare like that, they're in different price category. the latio if u wanna compare, is in the same class as the waja & gen2. and since its a smaller car with a smaller engine, the Saga fuel consumption will probably be slightly less, but they're not on the road yet, so we can't gauge. if u wanna save money but get ur money's worth on a car, the Saga is a lot of car for the money. But if u can afford the luxury, u won't go far wrong with a latio. there's no answer as to"which is better", its a matter of getting what u pay for.take note the price of the most expensive proton saga is half of latio... can anyone comment this? Nissan Latio or Proton Saga? Added on January 19, 2008, 1:38 pm QUOTE(bambambam @ Jan 19 2008, 10:19 AM) that's if they come out with a H-Line in future. and i hope they do- with dual air bag and 4 door power window This post has been edited by Suave: Jan 19 2008, 01:38 PM |

QUOTE(kurtkob78 @ Jan 19 2008, 01:51 PM) Why is it only till medium . What is the high spec ? and when will it be released ? Please advice me, getting gen2 1.3 auto 2006 second hand RM20k or..... this new saga full spec ? i'm not rich either, but the Gen2 1.3 is a drinker cos its a heavy car, 1200kg, and auto some more. only slightly lighter than a Waja. but u save on the 20k.Added on January 19, 2008, 2:15 pm QUOTE(yaphong @ Jan 19 2008, 11:32 AM) They keep it in a freezer and take it out to sell during Chinese New Year. QUOTE(travis_ckf @ Jan 19 2008, 06:01 PM) Actually i am amazed that this car was developed under scheduled (similiar with persona) and under RM500 million only. Proton now able to develop products on time and on schedule under SZ rule. they have to. its do or die for them now. back then when there was no Naza and no Perodua they could afford to lenggang la. |

QUOTE(cre8tif @ Jan 20 2008, 08:55 AM) what statement ? and also cos they keep building more and more buildings but simply refuse to think about building proper parking space. as a result of which people like you and I, not that we deliberately want to break the law, have to park in no parking areas, simply because there's nowhere to park. its the same here in Penang. worse i think because we have hawkers spilling onto the road and people stopping their cars to buy food. The KL is badly jammed because of poor town-planning / infrastructure / logistics ! U go lar and see London town ... there are even more cars / people there but how come it is not that bad ? They already have the tube/Underground pre-World War II and the fact is over 8 million people travel by the Tube every day. Our LRT / Monorail top-max can only handle 200,000 ppl per day how to move the crowd around town ? village-idiots |

QUOTE(sinclairZX81 @ Jan 21 2008, 01:03 AM) Won't they spoil market for other models if they do that? They already got Waja, Gen-2 and Persona at that range. yep, u're right. there are too many overlaps. ideally, this saga should have a 1.4L or 1.5 engine, without any variants, then it'll be just right smack in the class of the honda city/vios that does not overlap into the civic/altis or jazz/yaris range. but i don't think proton yet has the capital to market like that. i'm quite sure they would if they could. |

QUOTE(wut2du @ Jan 21 2008, 08:31 AM) Hi. Once u've gotten ur car don't forget to tell us how long it took u to get the car, and what the REAL fuel consumption is. Proton quotes it at 6.3L/100km auto, 6.0/100km manual but that's at a constant velocity of 90kph under ideal circumstances with nothing at all in the car. so under ordinary circumstances, in city driving and all, the difference might be quite big Thanks, enjoy ur new Sagas people!! |

QUOTE(wakakaka @ Jan 21 2008, 09:37 AM) in case u haven't been keeping up with the automotive industry, all cars now make use of plastic to reduce the relative weight of cars for better fuel effeciency. lower budget cars, not only the Saga but all in its class, use lower grade plastic. more expensive models use better quality plastic. proton is in fact, a little late in catching up. our cars were still using alluminium engine blocks when everyone else switched to plastic, including mercedes benz, volkswagen and BMW. and i'm no proton fanboy.p/s: on a side note, Perodua's plastic is somewhat of a better quality. I don't know for sure, but aren't they now using the same manufacturer/supplier? DBM Hicom? This post has been edited by Suave: Jan 21 2008, 10:05 AM |
