fridge that will last forever is manual defrost type. the only sensor controller is thermostat. Fail to start just check starter relay.

New fridge with auto defrost have fan and defrost timer.
inverter model come with main board and inverter board.

Thank you for the feedback.

My Toshiba fridge lasted 12 years. I wanted to get another but the salesperson said Toshiba might not be a good idea to buy now since they are letting go of their electronics business little by little (sorry, not sure if i am explaining right).

Good to know on the LG washer. I actually wanted to get an Electrolux washer, but the salesperson said the LG is direct drive, which means drum connected directly to motor, so does not use belt. This is a front loader. I will stick to getting LG then.

In 2016, Midea Group acquired the home appliances business of Toshiba.

I bought the 9kg version of the LG washer (Model FV1409S4W) in early Oct 21. (Previous was also a LG washer, a basic 8kg model, failed just after ten years). No issues so far. Good front load washing machine. Remember to use the detergent suited for front load washers. These are called low suds detergent.

Note that while the capacity is stated as 9kg (for my washer), in the user manual, you can wash the rated (max) load with only certain wash programs (Cotton, Cotton+). Other wash programs set a smaller load limit. Some wash programs even specify a single item limit. You can ger more details by downloading the user manual (pdf) from the LG website prior to commiting to a purchase.

Lastly, the unit has a WiFi feature such that if connected to your home router, with the LG ThinQ app, you can start/pause/stop the wash program even when you are out of the house. Can monitor the wash progress. Plus get a notification on your phone once the wash program is completed. I find this useful since I don't need to keep going to the washer to find out whether the wash is finished.

My Hitachi fridge is 10 years old and still going strong. My Toshiba washing machine lasted 7 years. Okay, no complaints.

When buying home appliances stick to established Japanese brands like Hitachi, Toshiba, Sharp and Panasonic. Stay away from Samsung unless it's a smartphone or a TV.

My most disappointing purchase was a Samsung multi-function printer. Only lasted a year with very light home use. Disgusted is more like it.
