I don't think 5G will use microwave as its primary connections to external...
because weather like malaysia , when heavy rain then mostly the microwave speed or latency will be slower and higher

breaking news Opensignal: Malaysia Currently Has The Second Fastest 5G Network In The World

Opensignal has just published its latest take on 5G network performance throughout the world which looked at several factors including speed, experience, uplift, availability and reach. Surprisingly, Malaysia is part of the new report as well even though the government and several major telco players still have yet to sort out their differences regarding the 5G rollout.

In its new Benchmarking The Global 5G Experience report for June 2022, Opensignal noted that Malaysia is ranked second in the world when it comes to average and peak download speed at 382.2Mbps and 880.3Mbps, respectively. Not enough with that, Malaysia topped the upload speed ranking as well at 50.3Mbps.

Whole industry now supports Govt's SWN plan for 5G, says Axiata chairman

KUALA LUMPUR (July 7): All of the country's main telecommunications companies are now supportive of the government's desire to have a single wholesale network (SWN) to implement 5G nationwide, said Axiata Group Bhd chairman Tan Sri Shahril Ridza Ridzuan.

“I think it's very clear that essentially the whole industry is now in line with the government’s aspiration of a single wholesale network,” Shahril Ridza told reporters at the launch of the edotco 2021 Sustainability Blueprint and Report 2021 on Thursday.

The telco players agreed recently to take up a stake in Digital Nasional Bhd (DNB), the special-purpose vehicle set up to roll out the 5G network nationwide.

DNB chief executive officer Ralph Marshall said on July 1 that the proposed sale of 70% of the company's equity to the telcos is expected to be completed in two months.

“The six MNOs (mobile network operators) have signed the reference access offer and they have also signed off on the term sheets, which will then lead to the shareholders' agreement and the subsequent completion of the shareholders' arrangement," Marshall had said.

Shahril Ridza said negotiations remain ongoing between the parties on two aspects, namely allocation of shares and commercial agreements.

“At this stage it's very hard for me to comment further but all players as far as I know are committed to this,” he said.

Shahril Ridza said Axiata's unit Celcom Axiata Bhd as well as Digi.Com Bhd, which are in the process of merging, are both committed to deploying accessible and affordable 5G access to consumers.

The Communications and Multimedia Ministry (K-KOM) will launch the Ketereh Digital Hub in Kelantan, a centre for education aimed to upskill and enrich the community in e-commerce and e-learning.

Located at the Kompleks Yayasan Kemiskinan Kelantan (YKK) in Melor, the digital hub is set to be launched by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob tomorrow, along with the presence of Communications and Multimedia Minister Tan Sri Annuar Musa, who is also the Ketereh Member of Parliament.

The digital hub is a collaboration between YTL Foundation, YES by YTL Communications, Shopee, K-KOM and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) who had the vision of creating a hub out of an existing community centre in Ketereh.

An official from YES told Bernama that the company saw it as an opportunity to showcase its high-speed internet connectivity to the community by providing the technology of 5G and data to power this digital hub.

“The Ketereh Digital Hub will be a one-stop centre that allows the community to get free access to experience the world of 5G high-speed internet, training tools for e-commerce and quality online learning programmes.

“Through Shopee University and ‘Jadi Boss Dengan Shopee’, entrepreneurs will be trained to succeed in the digital market,” he said.

3G spectrum is of lower frequency. if it is repurposed for 4G, then 4G should have better coverage.
*
nope
3G 2100mhz is higher frequency than standard 4G 1800mhz band 3
band 8 900mhz is for coverage but most people will complain because it too slow

LTE band 5, 8 and 20 share the same complain = 4G but 2G speed

Already quota based still want to restrict users from device specific based? Can you see who is the one wrong here? Consumer taken for a ride or the victim is the telco? Obviously is the telco being outright dishonest here. Bad reputation for YES. Already selling a limited quota plan still want to add restriction for device used?

What is the difference consuming 100GB on a phone vs a desktop PC? Both is still 100GB of data transferred. So does it make a difference if I place the SIM into a modem or in a phone itself?
This is not an unlimited all you can use plan only on a compatible phone. There's no TnC rule that mentioned the plan was only for phones and it must compulsory be used only with phones.

There's a hard cap of 100GB on it. If I use a modded modem with an unlimited plan said specifically must be placed only on phones then fine it's consumer to blame. But a quota limited plan still want to be greedy and force use on phones only?
*
to be fair, celcom, digi, umobile, maxis block sim card used inside modem router too

what do u say ?

I can't bring myself to believe that Malaysia is categorized under the same group as Bangladesh and Sri Lanka for 5G market. This is a new low.

Martin Wiktorin, Head of Ericsson Singapore, Brunei and the Philippines,
David Hägerbro as head of Ericsson Malaysia, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh and Global Customer Unit Axiata

Finally I plugged in my YES 5G Sim into Samsung A53 5G and lock band to b28, n28 and n78 and able to register on 5G network inside my home with just 1 bar signal, strength is -113dbm and able to perform speed test, with around 400Mbps ++ download and 20Mbps upload...

My Xiaomi 11T Pro has no way to lock the band and it is not register itself on 5G network due to too weak signal.

Since all telcos now signed or will sign and use one company providing 5G services

Does that mean the 5G coverage for all telcos will be exactly the same?
*
coverage are the same
the speed is not

same as telcos sharing 4G MOCN tower or celcom axiata MVNO
