QUOTE(ipohps3 @ May 3 2023, 10:36 PM) according to Fahmi, DNB now will focus to turn on the remaining approximately 2000 towers to achieve 80% population coverage by end of year. so no more new 5G tower?the rest of the coverage will be done by the 2nd 5G operator? what frequency band they will be allocated or they have to use the existing one? |

QUOTE(aniq8676 @ May 9 2023, 12:45 PM) The latest explanation regarding 5G Malaysia from Tuan Adil Hidayat (aka Pendakwah Teknologi) - DNB and Ericsson will expand the 5G infrastructure up to 80% (according to the contract agreement with Ericsson), the remaining 20% will continue when Entity A takes over DNB. - DNB will become a private company - Entity B will start installing Malaysia's second 5G network, starting from 0-100% (Including areas that already have 5G DNB) then I wish it reach so called "population coverage" to be 80% then the "agreement" can be finished and the 2nd 5G entity can start sooner... |

I believe there is an exclusive contract between DNB and Ericsson that after coverage of 80% then only allow to build another network or the project can "finish/review" again...
so let's just wait so call 80% coverage completed and Entity B can start ASAP |

QUOTE(joshhd @ Jun 12 2023, 10:24 PM) Did they ever specify that the 62% 5G population coverage is actually inclusive of 700MHz band? unless ur phone able to lock band, otherwise ur phone won't connect to 700Mhz only because it is anchor band and it is 4G only Imagine if it's inclusive of 700MHz, then how many % are there for 3.5GHz band only? They could've just deploy 700MHz at a wide scale, and then claim they have nationwide 62% "5G coverage". Well yeah, that 62% are majority coming from 700MHz band Who knows maybe in reality, if it's just the 3.5GHz alone, it's barely 20% or something, but they don't want to publicly announce the actual figures for 3.5GHz band alone cuz it's gonna make them look like a loser. so even u r using Maxis and if ur phone can lock freq band, ur phone can use 700Mhz as well, but of course then phone call cannot be made using this band |

QUOTE(shaun_kok @ Jun 14 2023, 10:48 PM) I borrowed my brother's mobile device to test out if there is any 5G reception (I don't have one) because the coverage maps clearly said that my area is out of coverage area - and the result is I could receive 5G (NSA) mode via my Unifi Mobile SIM which has 5G package enabled - I wasted some data to test the potential internet speed of 5G - this is the only 5G capable SIM that I have with me. -100dbm signal strength is not the edge of from the tower actually, it considers as middle from the edge to the center of the tower...Despite being "slightly outside the edge" of what coverage maps said - I still can get some 500Mbps speed while connected to DNB 5G. 4G via Unifi network is around 70Mbps (full speed data). But maybe another mast in my area is clearly needed for better coverage in my area. Note that I could get 400Mbps on Digi 4G+ via Galaxy S10+ (2019 flagship) (CelcomDigi has not merged the network in my area yet). [attachmentid=11470378] [attachmentid=11470379] [attachmentid=11470380] usually minimum needs at least -110dbm.. |

QUOTE(JLA @ Jun 20 2023, 02:48 PM) 4G band 28 DNB open to all telco all plan This is an anchor band, which means it is unless your phone lock to this band only, and no phone call can be established for this band as well.Good for telcos with limited high speed tower eg yes / tm and U.my congested tower The side effects of fake 5G NSA Your phone must fall back to telco other freq band for the phone call. BTW, there is an announcement for an announcement. https://www.orientaldaily.com.my/news/natio...23/06/20/574219 |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ Jun 20 2023, 08:46 PM) Too many Maxis users in Klang Valley region. But Maxis generally is still the most stable. For Genting, both Maxis and Digi are very slow. most stable (slow)has good indoor coverage enough for Whatsapp but not YouTube 1080p :-) Genting has partial 5G coverage but not at GPO or cable car there... it's another side like Bukit Tinggi there.. One Bar of 5G signal with speed around 300Mbps... This post has been edited by mlamlam: Jun 20 2023, 11:42 PM |
