QUOTE(ipohps3 @ Jan 30 2023, 10:15 PM) However, what can be done at the moment is to reinstate the technology neutrality of the existing spectrum assigned to current telcos which were revoked in July 2021. if Telco is allowed to use existing spectrum to deploy 5G, then DNB 5G is sure to be failed.... He said the government could liberalise 5G by allowing mobile network operators to refarm their existing spectrums for 5G, which will enable healthy competition, similar to Japan. He believes that the existing spectrum assigned to the telcos can be used for both 4G and 5G optimally with Dynamic Spectrum Sharing (DSS). If Malaysian telcos are given back technology neutrality for their spectrum, they could roll out 5G using their existing 1800MHz, 2300MHz and 2600MHz bands without interfering with DNB’s current rollout. 🤔🤔🤔 https://soyacincau.com/2023/01/30/how-to-li...-mcmc-chairman/ |

QUOTE(GOPI56 @ Jan 30 2023, 11:32 PM) Heard from a friend working in DNB, their staff employment contracts are not being renewed. He is currently looking for a job opportunity out in the market. So no country in the world is successful to deploy 5G using SWN.... Looks like DNB is going to the graveyard. Wasted billion on this project and go back to the starting point... and Maxis bets gov to go back to original place... |

While the 5G deployment plans are currently being reviewed by the government, Fahmi Fadzil has assured that DNB can still continue with their current rollout plans, however, they will not be able to sign new contracts.
So Maxis has no hope of 5G before gov announce the review result in March https://soyacincau.com/2023/02/03/dnb-confi...overage-claims/ |

it's possible to have dual 5G network, for example, allow Telco using their existing spectrum to provide 5G network for indoor area only, with limiting it's transmitting power...

QUOTE(MNF0 @ Feb 25 2023, 11:25 PM) you should say in another way... the two Telco just want to rely on DNB 5G network and not investing heavily to enhance their 4G coverage...This post has been edited by mlamlam: Feb 26 2023, 09:32 AM |

QUOTE(ipohps3 @ Feb 25 2023, 04:19 PM) got hope this time? 🫣 spectrum technology neutrality? if gov allows 2nd 5G network, the investment of 5G will never return .. even the Telco using their current spectrum to deploy ...![]() https://www.lowyat.net/2023/294920/telcos-d...-network-again/ CDMU network is already 5G ready... |

Once gov allows 2nd 5G network, DNB then has no advantage on this... collect skin very soon after this because the cost will never recover ......
talking about how many % of population coverage shouldn't be the only target .. gov should also consider the poor indoor and undergrounf coverage anyone knows how's our underground train station coverage is how? I believe none of them have 5G coverage... especially in the tunnel when the train is moving |

QUOTE(Sam Leong @ Feb 27 2023, 10:56 AM) so far MRT Kajang Line & LRT Kelana Jaya line both don't have 5G B28 + N78 Lalaport also have 5G indoor coverage but limited to shopping area, not including parking area, even Unifi / Yes has no line thereEven LRT Kelana Jaya Line don't have unifi / yes signal , unifi uses Celcom Band 1 in the underground section of KJL not surprised if the MRT Putrajaya Line Phase 2 Underground have 5G covered So far i know few places got DNB 5G indoor coverage : MOF / KKOMM / Lot 10 / TRX 106 / KL Sentral MOF / KKOMM is done for their DEMO to those menteri is it ? lol the progress of indoor / underground of 5G coverage is very far below expectation while gov seems only talking about the coverage regarding population... so we shall use 5G as fixed broadband later instead?... I remembered when I was in Singapore in Jan 2023, their 5G coverage also including shopping mall underground parking area and even in the lift.... so DNB will be another headache problem for gov because gov cannot let all investment gone but also hard to get profit from it, even cost recovery...
end up I think customer would let telco bid the 20Mhz of 700-band and 200Mhz of 3500-band, one of the condition needs to "buy" the asset of DNB.. so the gov can leave DNB project at least not losing any $$... |

many indoor area in KL has no 5G, and the further development will be outside KL... what is the meaning of 5G? to be a fixed wireless broadband?
in Singapore / Hong Kong, their signal strength can even cover in a lift or a hotel room with full bar signal, probably speed is not as fast as DNB network but at least with a lower latency. This post has been edited by mlamlam: Apr 16 2023, 09:19 PM |

QUOTE(p4n6 @ May 3 2023, 11:50 AM) Singapore has 2 telcos sharing infrastructure so they have 2 infra providers - DWN. Provide balance between quality and competition. As said, the coverage map is a joke, it does not consider indoor area / underground area.. most indoor area does not have coverage like shopping mall or parking area.I observed DNB 5G is faked by the LTE 700mhz in fact in most area it does not come with actual 5G speed (the high speed 300-400Mbps). By using Ookla speed test it will debunk whether is really 5G or 4G. The icon on the phone can show 5G but in reality is actually 4G. DNB faking the 5G coverage to public declaring the 5G coverage which in fact is the LTE not the 5G. Fake 5G and Real 5G … if look at the coverage today actually is over reported. In Singapore, I also get full bar 5G signal strength in underground parking area or even in lift! for real or fake 5G, Samsung phone will show you are connected to 700Mhz or 3.5Ghz by seeing its 5G this two symbols... ![]() This post has been edited by mlamlam: May 3 2023, 12:07 PM p4n6 liked this post

QUOTE(!@#$%^ @ May 3 2023, 06:40 PM) DNB also can focus some indoor area first but so far I see NONEcrowd shopping mall can consider to have indoor coverage like midvalley, Sunway Pyramid or One Utama , etc... and as of today, there is NO Yes 4G signal in parking area in Sunway Pyramid Mall, thinking about they use app to pay parking fee, then how you can do so? Small Island never is an excuse, Taiwan also not a small island but they established more than 12K 5G cell tower in just 2 years, I believe the coverage is also far better than in Malaysia . The gov always likely very proud of the coverage map but do they know there are many blind spot ? xperiaDROID liked this post
