I throw away 2 monitor screen. One is super old 2006 Samsung monitor, and another one is 2010 Dell monitor. Not worth time and money repairing this. The 2010 model I bought for RM260 in 2013 lmao imagine the repair cost.

The refurbish Dell monitor I bought also ended up faulty later so no point for repair.

You didnt try to DIY?

If your monitor has display problem like ghosting, polariser peeling then dont waste time fixing. However if there's just power supply issue, it could be an easy fix. I fixed a couple of office old LCD monitors just by replacing a bloated capacitor on the power supply board that only cost 1-2 ringgit.

I actually scour for second hand goods or donated goods then refurbish them for the needy.

I got these monitors from others.

Have at least 400+ needy folks still on my list. Already handed out 46 laptops + desktops this year; bought some and some got donated to me.

In total donated more than 300+ over the last few years.

Mostly these are B40 or very needy persons.

I also have charity homes which I donate out laptops or desktops to.

Maybe let me know your location and the type of second items which you might have then if you wanna pass it personally, I'll give you some names and addresses.

Appreciate it, pisces88.

Hi All,

I recently got 2 donated monitors which are faulty:

1. DELL Ultrasharp monitor has issues on the bottom and right side of the monitor.
2. Samsung monitor screen somehow has it's top layer on the monitor peeling.

Does anyone know anywhere who will repair them for cheap or should I just discard them if the repairs is too expensive?

I'm looking for anyone to help repair them in the Klang Valley if possible.

As these are for charity, I cannot spend too much on the repairs as I also have allocated some monies to repair other devices.

Not worth it, after you fix it soon the edge of LCD will bleed due to old age because I have a few of same model I bought for my office last time.

Thanks guys.

If anyone here has spare laptops or desktops or stuff like monitors/printers/etc which are still functioning and not using, let me know.

I'd love to get them to needy people.

Just dismantle and see lor... mine all the old type, using psu type connector, hence power supply board inside the monitor. Not sure about yours. I also got one samsung spoilt monitor which I threw away because the capacitor cost like RM60 when I googled. The other that I fixed are mostly LG which uses cheapo smaller value capacitor.

1) what issues ? If panel issue (pixel) then better to get new one. Nowadays there is also glass shortage in all the panel manufacturer.

2) top layer peel off ? Discard ba ...

Either way the internals can be salvaged if need be

But the panel might as well throw ba

Buy new panel from taobao and install

Take multimeter and check each cap got short or not

Turn on power and check voltage of each cap

Use reverse diode method check all the component on power rails

Should be able to isolate the component
