Car sifus,
Planning to change my vios 2016 tyre to xm2+ next week

Ori is 175/65/15, the shop i callled say no more stock size, if use 185/60/15 or 185/65/15 my understanding should be no significant difference
Am i right? Just incase i missed out something

Btw its RM220/ donut

185/60/15 is OK.

185/65/15 may be too thick, affects acceleration, but more comfy

No comment on the sizing.
My xm2+ still feels very good even reaching 40k+ km. Water puddles have to be a little careful though at this mileage.

Small variation on odometer, but should be still ok cos it is small. Personally I prefer exact same size

Might as well go with 195/55R15 as can fit into your stock rim. Lose nothing but gain more in terms of lateral stability, and if choose better tyre choices higher stopping power.

If got for 195/55R15, better choose

Dun get the mentality of choosing XM2+ coz there are much better choices for the same or lower cost.

I was using this (195/55R15) for my Vios.

Many tires to choose from. Best was the PS3, AD07 (I dont think have anymore), F1GSD3 (Rain King but discontinued).

So many tire sifu here. I have been. Researching a month plus yet not sure which to buy. Can someone recommend me for my old city 2012 16" rim? Currently using 195/50/16, but seems quite stiff. Is 185/55 better? Or I can go with 195/55? And which brand and model to go with?

65 series is like SUV tires so thick.

I would recommend it on Vios car.

Unless you are SUV or MPV.

Michelin PS3 195/55R15 (Mudah)

Why some sizes are cheaper? it has something to do with volume. When a tyre size sells more and stock movement is more fluid, the /unit and holding costs is lower.

Mine ori 175/65/15 and change to 185/65/15.
i usually know the traffic police hotspot for speed trap. So i will using auto cruise to set at 90km/h so that avoid getting summon.
after changed to 185/65/15, i received a lot of summon for speeding at 93-95 km/h....
i wonder why did i got summon when i set 90km/j using auto cruise?
is it the diameter increase after changed to 185 ?
and why even over 3-5km/h also can get summon?

Cos your diameter is 2%+ bigger. Thus 90KM/h is like 92KM/h. To be safe, reduce it to 88KM/h.
Even tho the diameter in tyre side profile is the same, the overall circumference is increased due to the width.

Hope that helps.

Axia, Bezza and MyVi tyres; just grab whichever cheaper for you.

Only thing need to avoid is silverstone and they’re a goner already from what I heard, so you’re safe with whatever choice nowadays.

If overall diameter of tyre within 2 or 3% with stick should be fine

The 175/185 is the thread patch width and 55/65 is the wall height ratio , the overall diameter need to calculate.

Keep in mind that when you go wider, most tires become taller unless you go with a smaller aspect ratio. The aspect ratio of a tire is the middle number in the size. This is a percentage of height based on the width. If you are considering the tire size mentioned previously, the height of the sidewall is 65% as high as the tire is wide. This means that if you want to go wider you should also go to a smaller aspect ratio like 60%. This will assist in making sure that the overall tire diameter remains close to the same. By doing this you refrain from affecting things like speedometer calibrations and transmission shift points.

That's why if there's a change in the specs, be it increase/decrease in width/height/rim size, it always inevitably have to be deducted tp keep it balanced. Thus there won't be much diff if the change is from 175/65/15 (default, comfy/squishy ride) to 185/60/15 (slightly more road feel) or even 195/55/15 (less fuel efficient and but road feel is more planted). See, you increase 1 part, you'll inevitably have to decrease another part.

LA773 Oops. Terhijack your tered. Anyway, 195/55/R15 is always cheaper cos more demand. Forgo a slightly worst fc but better feel. It will decrease 20mm off your car height too. I personally use Goodyear Triplemax 2 because price in EM is also mcm haram like Penang due to logistical charges. Albeit, a good tyre but of cos not PS3 good. That one cost 380/tyre here. shakehead.gif

No bro, the 55/65 is the aspect ratio, as in thats 55percent or 65 percent of the width of the thread of the tyre.

So even is the width the same ie 185, then the 65 profile tyre will be "thicker" wall then 55.

Your diameter is calculated from radius of rim size plus this tyre "thickness".

Might as well go with 195/55R15 as can fit into your stock rim. Lose nothing but gain more in terms of lateral stability, and if choose better tyre choices higher stopping power.

If got for 195/55R15, better choose

BS RE004
Michelin PS3
Hankook VP3

Dun get the mentality of choosing XM2+ coz there are much better choices for the same or lower cost.

change la...that's why i said if 175/65/15 change to 185/60/15 you are good to go.
but you changed to 185/65/15, so got difference, your speedometer, mileage, and on display fuel/distance no longer accurate.

Not discontinued, but reassigned to cover/target smaller size premium, high performance market.

PS4 cover 16in and above (many sizes)

PS3 cover 15in (only a few sizes)

XM2+ is a budget tire that is very decent and last long (my XM2 lasted me almost 4 years before a change was required - mainly due to cracking but thread depth was still good)

CC6 is a soft comfort tyre, but drive 60 during rain. the only tire that so far has managed to make my ESC light to blink during stop and go traffic

PS3 is an amazing tyre, at the cost of faster thread wear and potentially noisier

My personal vote goes to XM2+ for my own car at least
~200 for 4 years is too well worth

Note: I rotate tyres often and drive slow, if you're a more performance driver, then definitely PS3/4. If 99% jam/grab, take XM2/2+ could be better as the threads will last longer

Planning to change my vios 2016 tyre to xm2+ next week

Ori is 175/65/15, the shop i callled say no more stock size, if use 185/60/15 or 185/65/15 my understanding should be no significant difference
Am i right? Just incase i missed out something

Diameter should still be same isnt it?
The change should be the surface area
🤔

It will, cos the 2nd number of the tire size is a ratio of the first number and this is impact the diameter. So when first number increase, the diameter increase.

Primacy different level and price but only 16 inch above

PS3 is already nice tyre for vios if you are not heavy usage, can last long.
If want more value especially heavy usage, go for XM2

I've used all of Michelin tires (except for those PS4S and above)

You want mileage and best FC go for XM2+
You want better performance go for PS4 ( or PS3 depending on size availability)

But Primacy 4 as an in-between doesn't give any of those. Not even close. It's a 'nothing special' tires compared to the rest of the Michelin lineup. I'm replacing all my SUV tires from Primacy to XM.
The way I drive an SUV, XM2+ give me all I want
Maybe some will say It's louder then the Primacy. But for me it's no noticeable like some off road tires.
