My brother in law has the Evoque.
Inside is rather cramp although the dashboard is rather futuristic.
On the other hand engine is powered by a Ford Ecoboost.

X1? Like a Honda HRV with BMW badge. For those who want simplicity yet want the BMW badge.

180k should be able to get you a late, pre facelift X1 from 2019/2020
Unless you really want the design of the Evoque, the safer choice would be the X1 - newer, with warranty and service plan as well

Personally advise if want to get X1 -> Better get Mini Countryman similar chassis/engine and got more value/more sort after

If want to get the best from BMW in term of SUV handling, prefer to upgrade to X3 and get the xDrive variant.
Nowadays X3 2.0 also not much difference in term of 2nd price if compare with X1.

If talk about maintenance, BMW/Mini is much cheaper (if can accept OEM) & spare part is more easily source or fix compare to land rover from what i heard around.

Both have their pros and cons.

The Evoque’s main pros is its off-road capability which is the best in it’s class. The next is the brand presence which is 1 spot above the BMW and prices reflect that too.

The cons is of course the tight space, price and patchy build quality.

The X1? It’s cheaper to buy and also cheaper to maintain. Where the Evoque feels like a scaled down Range Rover, the X1 gives the feel of an enlarged 1 series. Nothing too specia about it and for the most part it’s just a car with a BMW badge. Personally for the money I’d put it into a Mini Countryman or a Mercedes GLC or a Volvo XC40.

XC40 only if you don’t carry passengers behind. Rear seats are hopeless

i have HRV and X1 2017 at my place

X1 wins in term handling , driving comfort and power, good steering control but engine can be loud outside but interior NVH is quiet

and the stupid BMW run flat tyre is damn noisy, changed it to normal tyres and now quiet already

and BMW spare parts can be easily available

would like to test drive the evoque though, damn muscle handsome

-> Countryman

GLC 200 is tin kosong, totally not worth the price. GLC250 is price way higher than the other options.

XC40 2nd resell value is very good. 3-4 years car only depreciate 25% of the value. Better get new or Volvo Selekt

XC40 target owner also very specific. Either it is perfect or totally loathe it.

The rear seat vs boot design, door bins, drawer under driver seat that size exactly for ladies' purse, hook on the glove box, rubbish bin in central arm rest etc... all points to one thing.
It is a ladies' car, best suited for single lady or young family where the kid still in child seat. If want to take family with kids in adolescent, need to have other car(s) before XC40.

Bro, i cant say it is ok base on price. If the ride got full complete service record and no serious accident before it is a good buy also but before that please get a reputable BMW/Mini mechanic to check it out before making the decision.

This.

The XC40 is pretty well specced for it's price. A mildly used GLC should still be rather reliable, compared to a Range Rover or Bimmer. OEM parts are common too.

The X1 on the other hand, doesn't feel like a "true" bimmer, built on the fwd platform shared with the 2 series active tourer.

X1 is just to ride on the SUV hype and try milk from the buyers.
Specs and interior are under-whelming, its only the badge that says BMW..
It is Front Wheel Drive and there are other FWD SUV that provides a better interior, space and specs like Mazda CX-5

There are BMWs that live-up to their brand and also BMWs that just selling basic spec car with their badge to milk from buyers. X1 is one of them.

Yes. Especially the GLS Turbo 2.5 AWD offers better value for something in that price range.

more towards X1 as evoque felt really cramp and the suspension similar with CX-5 which is quite bumpy.. ad maintenance cost also X1 is cheaper..
