user posted image

Kopi Ping rated 9/10. RM 2.70 / glass . ( costlier above average , normally I get around RM 2.20 / glass ).

Total cost for the lunch = RM 9.70.

Updated.

Update 3/7/22 - per plate now selling at RM 9.90. A raised of RM 1.00. That was approximately 11.2% increased.

I'm here for this fried stuff, the Ipoh's people called it "sar kok". So far, this was the closest taste I tried at KV which resemble the "sar kok" from the Ipoh "Dai Su Geok" @ Jalan King.

Curry Mee cost RM 10/ bowl. The taste was above average with topping of sliced roasted pork , 1/2 hard boiled egg, 2 pieces of cockles, few pieces of long bean, pepper mint leave & bean curd. The the size of the serving slightly below my expectation ( costly to me ).

The "sar kok" selling at RM 1.80/piece. Took 3 pieces & it costed RM 5.40.

The kopi pheng costed RM 3.00 / glass. So far this kopitiam emerged as champion ( most expensive ) as the pricing of the kopi pheng. The taste was good but the pricing was RM 0.80 more expensive compare to the other regular spots.

Within the same area, visited MC Curry Noodle.

Today went to Yau Yat Khan @ Subang Bestari in the attempt to try out Johnny's Prawn Mee after being highlighted to be better than Penang's Hokkien Mee. Luck was not with me today, the seller's sprained the back & was on rest. Ended up trying the Mee Jawa within the same kopitiam. Luckily the Mee Jawa did not disappoint me.

Wow nice, it's like a supermarket version of Shojikiya right? Can pay a visit some day, just checked their fb the nearest branch is tropicana.

But still looking forward to instant ramen stores where u can choose, cook and dine in there, i think it will be fun. Korea and japan sure got already. Even thailand also got.

After so many years of trying so called Sarawak Laksa & always end up screwing my Sarawak friends for mixing up the curry mee with laksa, finally this is the only Sarawak Laksa that have the taste of Laksa but appearance like curry , using Lai Fun, served with peeled prawns, fish balls, sliced fish cake, sliced fried egg omelet , fresh bean sprouts & some corriander leaves. It is addictive I”ll said - 2 revisits within 1 week time.

I think operated by native Sarawakian. They sell Kolok Mee also but I fancy their Sarawak Laksa more. Selling at RM 8.00/ bowl.

Restoran Tai Ma @ Taman Industries, Sg Buloh for the Mee Jawa.

user posted image

user posted image

My colleague said the Prawn Mee was nice as per tip off but during the visit, the Mee Jawa looked more promising as many tables were ordering the Mee Jawa. Hence, following the intuition to go according with the flow. Mee Jawa proven not disappointing, above average. Selling at RM 8.00/ bowl. The herbal Chinese tea per glass was RM 2.30/ glass.

Will come back for the prawn mee in the future.

Visited Peel Road Char Siew Yong. Actually not at Peel Road but it was Jalan Ulu Pudu, not sure why the signboard was stating Jalan Peel.

I”ll said the taste was definitely above average & memorable. After the visit, my personal preference of ranking for the Char Siew should be as following :-

1) Toast and Roast - SS2
2) TNR - SS2
3) Restoran Spring Golden - Shah Alam
4) Char Siew Yong - Jalan Pudu Ulu
5) Meng Kee Char Siew - Glenmarie, Shah Alam
6) Kuan Brother - Bandar Puteri Puchong

Boss buying, rezeki jangan ditolak. Boss buy, you still need to work, boss no buy you also need to work. Hence, since both option also will lead to “ you need to work”, opting for eating happily will be a better option. No complaint.

Sorry, so far no. KL city center traffic is too congested during weekend, usually will only food hunt on weekend. During weekend , will usually rotate between city or outskirt option.

Went to Wu Cafe @ Kota Damansara recently for the Ramen. The unique part of this visit, the shop was located at the 1st floor, not the ground floor. Perhaps it was the business strategy for cheaper rental & manage to pass the cost saving to the customer.

Here were the photos of the foods.

Chashu Black Miso Ramen was selling at RM 21/ bowl. The taste was good, the broth & noodle can match against overprice Ippudo anytime. Visited Mr Fish for the Fish Head Noodles. Ordered their menu no.777. The fish head noodle served with 2 slices of fresh grouper fillet, 3 pieces of sea prawns, 2 pieces of baby abalones and few slices of fish maws.

I gave them 10/10. Really worth to try.

The price was at RM 14/ plate for the fried chicken nasi kandar. It think it was fairly price. Rated 9/10.

The ambient was in the old shop lot without air conditioning, should be rated around 5/10 for the ambient.

The kopi ping tasted kaw, not too sweet . Selling at RM 4.30/ glass . Rated 9/10.

Worth to visit this place. Food quality above expectations & the food prices around affordable range . Average around RM 20/pax.

Small Bowl Porridge in Porridge Time, USJ 10. Just came here today for a try. It’s available daily until 5pm and costs RM5.90. The cheesy porridge is delicious to eat and good for the price paid. But portion is quite disappointing, with the small amount of porridge given. Total is RM6.25 including 6% SST.

The food quality & portion I”ll said it was to my liking . The ambient is comfortable during the weekdays. During weekend it is crowded & not comfortable.

One thing to notice, the patrons there seem to be on over dressed mode. Like go clubbing or formal function. Averaging RM 30-40/pax.

Really don’t understand , RM 30-40/pax need to dress until like go to ball or annual dinner events.

Tried their giant fresh water prawns selling at RM 130/kg. 1 kg got around 5 big pieces. You can select the size of the prawn to your liking, they have different range. Since coming all the way, to make it memorable, straight pick the biggest range. 1 piece around 200g average.

Girlie Cafe @ Ipoh. Dropping by Ipoh on weekday was very pleasant, you don't have to compete with the tourist crowds on weekend. Feeling so comfortable to be the only patron during the visit. Not sure they can survive if the crowd is like this even during the weekend. Ordered the egg benedict + mocha. Ipoh's mocha tasted totally different from Klang Valley. After drinking the mocha at Ipoh, it totally make me to reconsider back how the mocha should. It is way better than what you get at Starbucks, Coffee Bean & Tea Leave, etc - more sweetness & less coco. The Ipoh's mocha was rich enough with the coco, mild sweetness & bitterness.

No pork, no lard.

Looks good. The place is a bit far from my place but will keep this in mind when I visit Puchong. I do hope the chee cheong fun will be much higher quality than the one served in Foh San dim sum restaurant in Ipoh. From the looks of it, it's promising the chee cheong fun from this hawker stall beside the roadside will taste better than the "famous" and premium Foh San restaurant.

By the way, keep up with the good work, with beautiful photos of the food at various places. We only have one place to recommend for Chinese food, mainly rice and dishes. The food is great and the price is very reasonable, air-conditioned. The place is Restaurant Gold Dragon City in 14 - 16, Jalan 20/16a, Taman Paramount, 46300 Petaling Jaya, Selangor. On weekends, may need to call to place booking and it is usually full house. The chefs there are all skilled as the food comes out great. Most importantly is the price is very reasonable as a table of 5 or 6 will usually cost around RM200-300 only few dishes including meat. It's just when you order fish or some other special dishes then the price will be higher.

That's great. We always have dinner at this Gold Dragon City restaurant on every weekend as we find no other restaurant matches the quality of the food, environment and value all combined. It's not only the food that's good, but the environment is great too, air-conditioned and not packed unlike some restaurants whereby you need to wait for existing customers to finish their meals before you can have your table, and also not to mention the not-so-clean environment without air-conditioner. It's pre-booking for weekend dining so there is no issue with "fighting" for tables and long waits.

For this Gold Dragon City restaurant, I noticed that most people who dine here are senior citizens. Most children brought their parents to dine here at this nice restaurant with good food and good environment.

Yesterday we had lunch at Restoran BBQ Kong Meng at Taman Maju Jaya, KL and although the food was OK with their signature dish of roast duck, siew yuk & char siew, chilli sotong and fried mushrooms, the environment was not good. Packed with people and need to wait for about 15 to 30 minutes, no air-conditioner and not very clean. My parents do not like the environment. So it's the last visit for us although the price was considerably lower than Gold Dragon City standards.

Sorry no nice photos of the food like the ones you posted here.

Finally, got to try this chee cheong fun at this restaurant. It's called "Restaurant King - steamed vermicelli roll" at 10, Lorong Jejawi, Tamn Sri Puchong, Batu 14, 47100 Puchong were the restaurant is available in Google Map.

I have to say, the chee cheong fun here is surely higher quality than the ones in the famous Foh San dim sum restaurant in Ipoh. Don't need to drive all the way to Ipoh to experience good chee cheong fun already. Highly recommended not only for quality and taste but also decent affordable price. The chee cheong fun is prepared right on the spot during order and not pre-steamed.

We tested a few versions of the chee cheong fun and the best one is the dried shrimp with fried onion. The prawn version is not very good. The roasted duck is also ok. Next time if there is opportunity, will try the porridge.

Keep up the good work. Will look out for your other good reviews and recommendations here. thumbup.gif

Went to this Restaurant King for chee Cheong fun yesterday and found that the prices have increased by RM0.50 to 0.80 for the chee cheong fun. Not sure if other types of food on the menu have increased or not as I wasn't interested with other food in the restaurant other than the chee cheong fun.

Klang is not about Bah Kut Teh only.

Visited both Nijia Fried Chicken & Klang Jaya Fried Chicken.

Nijia Fried Chicken is actually the branch for Yao Yao Bing @ Pendamaran, Klang.

Nijia Fried Chicken ( behind Klang Parade). Operations from noon till evening.

Went to Ipoh yesterday for Ching Ming festival, and since it's the first day of Hari Raya fortunately the traffic along the North-South highway isn't too packed. Finally, managed to try this Hakka restaurant and wasn't disappointed. During last year's Ching Ming, we tried another Hakka restaurant in the town area due to a review on the internet after I did a search, and regrettably the noodles were not good. Now, this restaurant had very little or zero reviews on the internet but the food is delicious. And most importantly, cheap and very affordable.

Only negatives are packed as there is a short queue in the morning around 10.30am when we reached there, waited for around 15 minutes outside the restaurant. Few more negatives are no air-cond and inside the restaurant it's rather hot and humid although there are fans, hot sun and weather outside. Last bad thing is we wanted to pack more fried dumplings and taufu since they tasted so good but they do not have enough for customers. Imagine you have the money can't buy since they are almost finished already and ready to close shop. We wanted to pack 20 pieces also they don't have enough. All less than RM50 for 4 persons and a cup of tea and coffee costs RM2.50 each.

Highly recommended anyway for quality of food and low price.

Food : 9/10
Value : 9.5/10
Environment : 7/10 (hot and humid if hot weather outside, only fan and no air-cond)
Other notes : Don't have enough food for customers if they are almost sold out during lunch time. They open for breakast and lunch, closes at 2pm but by 12pm the food are almost sold out already. Even if you have money, you may not be able to try the food there or pack the food if they have run out of noodles or fried dumplings/taufu.

Good way to list down the eateries on an Excel spreadsheet complete with links to the location via Google map. I browsed through few listings and noticed most are smack in KL city centre around Jalan Sultan or Petaling street area, either in food court or hawker stalls set up along pathways along corner or side of shophouses with make-do portable tables and stools. We usually don't dine at these areas along pathways at public areas and also there is no parking around the area which would be inconvenient to access these places. But it's good to note that there are still some Hakka noodles which look quite delicious sold in KL city centre. I'm not sure how they would compare to the Ipoh one though.

My workaround is travel with grab or train to places with parking or traffic issues.

I've tried Leekko Hakka Mee @ Jalan theatre 烈哥客家面 at Ipoh. About the same.

Good to know. For us, we go in a group consisting of seniors in their late 70s, small kid with an infant few months old, so an MPV makes a lot of sense.

Good o know the Hakka restaurant in KL serves almost same quality noodles as the one in Ipoh. We have not tried Leekoo Hakka Mee at Jalan Theatre but went to Paris Hakka Mee at Jalan Sultan Iskandar, Taman Jubilee after reading a review on the internet. The experienced turned out to be a disappointment. The Hakka restaurant at Jalan Pasir Puteh which I posted above serves much better and delicious Hakka noodles. We usually go to the more unknown and quiet restaurants slightly out of Ipoh city centre. When we were at Ipoh earlier last week, we wanted to have lunch and pack some yong tau foo at Big Tree Foot at Pasir Pinji, the famous outlet selling yong tau foo always packed with people. Similarly it was packed with people when we went there but after looking at the long queues of people and packed like sardines inside the restaurant, we decided to skip everything, not even packing the food.

Lou Wong area has some tourist traps. Those crowded ones probably need you to go very early.

I'll try other recommended ones when I go Ipoh again.
