What do you all think about the notch?

Seems like last minute rumors about the notch came out and it was true. Maybe the notch was acceptable on the iPhone and on the MacBook?

I presume that the Touch Bar was supposed to be a stepping stone towards implementing a full LCD display in place of the keyboard, so the MacBook Pro was supposed to have two displays one on top for the screen and the bottom one is the keyboard.

Looks like that didn't work out, so we got the physical Fn keys back. But as for the Touch Bar, the Asus Zenbook Pro Duo may have a better implementation for the secondary display.

If u love to use large screen and not really using any external display, just go for the 16. I’m am an ex 16inch user and the screen looks really great to do all the stuff that you need.

If u already have an external 4k display, perhaps u can go for 14inch. However, once u got so use to the mbp line Retina display, it’s so hard to adapt to even those higher price tag 4k monitor . Some of the mac features like True Tone is not supported on normal 4k monitor. Unless we have the cash to buy apple pro xdr display .
*
Which 4K monitor are you using?

These new MacBook Pros have that Liquid Retina XDR display which use mini-LED with 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio. That's a lot better than most of the 4K LCD monitors out there that only have 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Unless you guys are using LG C1 for your monitor which has near infinite contrast ratio cool2.gif

You guys also ordering the cleaning cloth? smile.gif

I remember last time Apple provides the cleaning cloth together with the MacBook Pro. Then later they don't provide the cloth at all. Now they want to charge you for it.

The wait is killing 😅

Apple store Thailand has even started selling it

This means Thailand market for Apple is larger than Malaysia?

Definitely, that’s why they got 2 Apple stores opened in Bangkok while we don’t biggrin.gif

Hmmm, I wonder why is that the case? Do Malaysians consider Apple products too expensive? Or they prefer to go for PCs and Android phones?

Sounds like it will be a while before the new MacBook Pro machines are available here. Not only Apple products, but other products as well due to the global chip shortage. Looks like TSMC is really that important to the world economy.

freaking smooth drive on FCP and goddamn fans is not even spinning.

sadly intel mac pricing drop like a freaking rocket.

Oops, I mean Switch trade in is slightly higher than Machines. But their trade in for the 16" 2019 spec wise is very basic. Divided btw 512gb and 1tb version, doesn't matter what other upgrades you do which is the big downside. 16" 2019 1tb trade in is RM5,115. Selling 2nd hand would probably get you more although quite troublesome to find buyer.

Apple SG trade in is a huge con job. My 16" 2019 trade in value they offer S$790  doh.gif
Apple US offered nearly RM6k trade in value in comparison.

How much does Switch offer for trade-in compared to Machines?

yeap like videos like these where they make comparisons..

Actually 16” and 14” is not really a hard decision IMO. If you think you need the 16” then you need it, if there’s doubt means 14” could probably be better..I was all in for the 14” due to compact and portability and don’t want the extra 500gram (that’s like an additional iPad Pro 12.9 weight along with a 14” (2 vs 1 weight).

But after walking into AASP many times to compare the 16/13 (I know 14 is bigger than 13) but I’ve been using 13 for a long time and I know I needed the extra real estate, whether a little more on the 14 or a lot more on the 16…had a long thought and tests on the 16s weight vs my life style, I think I can cope with it, hence I switch to 16 finally…

Coincidentally I was in Switch earlier..biggrin.gif

16 vs 13”

This is interesting. 16" is good but 14" is more practical as 16" is too heavy.

Did he just buy the MacBook Pro to review it, then return it once he's done the review?

Do any of you guys use USBC-Ethernet dongles for internet access? I'm having trouble finding one that works with the MacBooks with M1 chips. Both my Air and the newer MBP....

I also want to know this as well.

Seems like it will be a while before the AAR will have new stock on the MacBook Pro laptops.

Want to hear from you guys on the usage. How is the blooming? And the memory leak issue?
