I think the number one difference is that the new MacBook Pros are really fast and cool, it doesn't feel hot and the fans don't spin up like the Intel ones right?

they just tembak only lol... they were already ready stocks in retailers since day 1 launch in Nov 23rd.. but not every stores have them... if you're in Klang valley area then most stores carry stocks but very limited, and might not have your desired variant i.e colour storage etc...they carry base model with 512gb/1tb only though... any other customed specs need to be ordered via apple store..

Models with customised specs won't be available until 2022?

Does this happen when the MacBook charger is plugged directly into the wall socket? Or through an adaptor?

Wow... Delivers on early February 2022 !!! This will be my longest wait for Apple product.

Edit: Initially want the 24 core but the delivers date will be March 2022 !!!  sad.gif

So long delivery date... Like this by the time you get your MacBook, Apple would have already announced the new iMac 2022 models. biggrin.gif

I thought the Touch Bar was a stepping stone for Apple to implement a full touchscreen keyboard.

Three months after their launch, the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros continue to experience high demand and seemingly short supply, with shipping dates for both models stretching into multiple weeks in several of Apple's key markets.

In the United States, the baseline 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M1 Pro chip is estimated to ship in three to four weeks, promising an arrival by at least mid-February. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with the higher-end ‌M1 Pro‌ configuration or the M1 Max chip faces an even longer wait, heading well into at least early March.

And yet despite this, Apple still had a record Q4 2021 financial result.

Yup, my firm is experiencing shortages on these models worldwide and a lot of staff are waiting for the stocks to be available before ordering them. Unfortunately, I don't meet the criteria to get one (the developers and designers mostly get them) so I have to work with a normal MBP M1 instead
*
Despite the shortages, I hope Apple will continue to maintain the prices. Preferably reduce prices, but that's not likely given the current situation.

i order it from 2 dec 2021 until now still no update.

Have you checked with them for an update? I think Apple is still having delivery problems with M1 Max models.

Apple is finally catching up to demand for its latest 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pro, with wait times for both models in lower-end configurations substantially improving over the last month in the United States, the United Kingdom, and Canada.

Compared to just a few weeks ago when both baseline models of the 14-inch and 16-inch laptops were seeing wait times of six to eight weeks, estimated deliveries for both with the M1 Pro chip are now just five to seven days or up to at least two weeks, at the time of writing. However, the supply improvement stops short with only the ‌M1 Pro‌ chip, as M1 Max configurations of both sizes remain limited, with estimates indicating orders won’t arrive until at least early April.

Apple is internally testing several variants of the next-generation M2 chip and the updated Macs that will be equipped with them, reports Bloomberg, citing developer logs. There are "at least" nine new Macs in development that use four different M2 chips that are successors to the current M1 chips.

Apple is working on devices with standard M2 chips, the M2 Pro, the M2 Max, and a successor to the M1 Ultra, with the following machines in the works:

A MacBook Air with an M2 chip that features an 8-core CPU and 10-core GPU.
A Mac mini with the M2 chip and a variant with the M2 Pro chip.
An entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro with M2 chip.
A 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro models with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips. The M2 Max chip features a 12-core GPU and 38-core GPU, along with 64GB Memory.
A Mac Pro that will include a successor to the M1 Ultra used in the Mac Studio.

According to Bloomberg, the internal testing is a "key step" in the development process, and it suggests that the machines could be released in the coming months. We have heard multiple rumors about a new MacBook Air, an updated 13-inch MacBook Pro, a Mac Pro, and a new Mac mini, but this is the first we are hearing of a possible 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pro refresh this year.

I think base model deliveries are fine, some of the AAR stores have them in stock. It's the customised spec laptops that are having long delivery times.

I have recently 'downgraded' my 16 inch to a 14 inch mainly due to portability factor and I am very much surprised by the screen estate.

Did you find the 14" screen almost like the 15" screen?

QUOTE(andrewtho @ Aug 7 2022, 12:22 PM)
It does actually feel smaller than the 15" that's for sure, but just a slightly 'beefed' up version of the 13" - especially the top/bottom bezels are much thinner now.

Overall I feel this tradeoff of screen estate for portability really does make alot of sense for my use case. I think the only major differences I can tell is the battery - the 16" endurance is far more superior vs the 14".
*
People go for the 14" for the portability. I think the 14" is the better choice than the 13". The 13" uses M2, the 14" most likely will get the M2 Pro/Max next year.
