Pro users use keyboard a lot and are usually touch typing. Touch bar is bad for touch typing.

Mind to share where did you get this info? Yet to see any local tech pages reporting this.
*
Just search SIRIM database. Approved on 29th Oct, model A2442.

Woot, means it’s coming soon biggrin.gif
A2442 is for 14” only? 16” is A2485?
*
A2442 should be 14”, which means there will be another approval soon.

I will likely just go for 14" since my workflow doesn't require the extra screen estate of 16". Also, it seems very heavy.

Waiting for in-store availability, likely go for 16" base model.

I wouldn't bother about the color to be honest, just hope to get it asap for my work. Currently using space grey naked, no scratch of whatsoever after 5 years.

Grabbed the one and only 16" base model from Pyramid Switch just now, minutes after they announced stock availability. The one who got 14" behind me, are you fellow Lowyat member?

It’s not as heavy as I thought. Maybe because my previous high-end windows laptops were all old and bulky.

Well I guess after a while of habit you eventually got used to it smile.gif i was tempted to get the keychron k2v2 keyboard but again it defeats the portability purpose of getting the mbp, the keyboard itself is 669gram despite the minimalist design, which is a lot of additional weight to pack along with the laptop…and takes up space at the workstation too…or might settle with the keychron k3 which is half the weight..or just scrap the keychron idea and use the stock keyboard on mbp..
*
Agreed. Nowadays I just put it in a sleeve and go. I don't even need to bring the charger.

Should I go for 16gb ram or 32gb ram for M1 pro? Will most likely using it for software engineering (still a student), and not gonna use it for AI/ML. I do a bit of 3D modeling on Blender but not my main concern since I only do it during sem break lol
*
To be honest, you won't even need a MBP. However, if you can afford, just go for it. Check your daily commute routine and see if the 16" is too big for you. Also, if you need to use it a lot in your class, is the table top stable and big enough for it? MBP is designed with specific pro users in mind, those extra power are likely under-utilized by most of us.

My USB c charging has no problem whatsoever, standby or shutdown. Don't plan to use the Magsafe for now.

Haha, yes, I always avoid fast charging, even for ipad pro and iphone. For my work, I will usually still have 60-70% of battery at the end of day so I am fine with charging on normal adapter.

Suddenly out of nowhere the Touch ID is working again. I just hope it is a minor software glitch and not a hardware issue. It’s really painful to see something expensive failed just within 5 days.

Sorry to hear about your charging issue. When you say cable do you mean the USB-C cable or motherboard cable?
*
It's likely software related. They have not solved the memory leak problem too. It happened to me once when I quickly scroll through Apple Arcade catalog.

Hi, so that means i should choose mac or PC? tongue.gif

A new OS will definitely get some use to. If you are willing to learn, you will soon find windows unbearable.

By the way, my Switcheasy sleeve

how do you find the magnetic cover bro? does it easily open and slip through your mbp if you put it upside down? (i mean is it as strong as a zip - which wont open even you put it upside down and even shake it)  hmm.gif
*
It will slip if upside down, don't expect it to be like a zip. I hate zip so much that I stop using my other Samsonite backpack because of the possibility the zip scratching the laptop.

Nice sleeve bro, how are you liking the silver? smile.gif
*
Loving it so far. I don't quite bother about the look, no time for it. Battery is great, almost 4 hours zoom daily but still able to charge it once every 2-3 days. Is anybody planning to buy this? Polishing Cloth

not sure..because myself is a advance user for Microsoft Excel..found mac version tend to be limited.

Some advance features are indeed not available or won't be available right after it releases. I am Excel advance user as well, even the multi core support was only available few years ago. The Pivot and VBA are very limited even though one could still use it.
