This is the number I’m aiming for too including the kid as well even if they hitting working bracket soon. The gap is now how to get another 50% more to cater for those unexpected non regular expenses.

Just wanted to be safe/conservative to plan for it. If kid fully settled down, then it’s bonus la.

lucky for me... i got a high performance wifu wub.gif

don't worry... I think Ramjade is not using any local broker (i don't know any that offers such facility) to sell options.

legally no need to declare anything as long as not bring the premium back to Malaysia
*
you want to pay a bit of tax to keep them happy and avoid troublesome audits...

just do grab for fun should be fine...

imo, if he is not sending money to Malaysia, then it should be ok.
ie, I am sure he has funds in Malaysia and by utilizing said funds, he can prove he is drawing down on his own assets in Malaysia and that is fully in compliance with tax code. nothing illegal.

of course, if flashing spending like getting a 5 series, that may attract more effort by LDHN.
*
when your whole life is regular pcb salaried person... then suddenly stop... will trigger lhdn and higher chance for random audits... not just big buying or selling... wifu and i been audited 4 times past 5 yrs because of small mistakes by employer and self sweat.gif des why i very familiar with tax... hahaha...

most of the time they just want explanation on item abc... but sometimes they ask you provide doc for year xyz and then they do deep dive try dig up any dirt... very ma fan one i tell you... hahaha...

yes you did nothing illegal... but just try avoid their crosshair lah... wink.gif

For me it's very simple. It's your money and your future family well being. I do what I do to protect my future buying power than depending on hopium which is dangerous.

Not to scare anyone but if you planning for retirement or early retirement, you need to consider your future purchasing power.
*
i support...

young ppl to take more risk, explore more opportunities, build wealth, sucure future n retirement...

and old ppl to park everything in epf... biggrin.gif

The very steep increase in living costs only during the past 1 year does ring alarm bells on the issue of future purchasing power.

des why must plan for buffer... or be more conservative in planning...

He's not the best guy to follow as he hold on to losers like Singtel, singpost, sph.

For him as long as company pay dividemd he's a buyer regardless quality of the company.

I thought as much, probably cut down on work hours or negotiate with boss with voluntary cut in salary and working hours.

Only if your direct manager/boss can be trusted... and if there are precedence that your firm allow such arrangement.

else, you may soon find yourself at the wrong end of the wrong type attention.
*
bosses want ppl that can do 2 person's job... you come tell me wanna shake leg... i'd fire you immediately if i can... hahaha...

best find good paying zero effort type job that you can quietly retire... some big companies have corporate affairs dept... some guys job there is mostly read newspaper and magazines, cut n paste and compile summary to management... lol...

if your wife is fine with working (better still if she is enjoying her work) or the work load is decent, let her continue...  Also does this mean you don't need to give her any monthly allowances? hehe  tongue.gif

if it has not happened yet, she would be very relief the day her epf can generate dividend higher than her yearly expenses  biggrin.gif

i agree with the first part,
boss always want worker work for salary.

but next  you said go find salary with zero effort, got such bosses?
read newspaper cut magazine and paste.......
good salary for no effort work?

contradictory statements....  hmm.gif  hmm.gif

wah that doesnt sound nice for a man to say.....
living off woman´s money......  hmm.gif

i would rather say my wife is financially independent
i dont use her money.
*
not contradictory if you follow the discussions... someone says nego with boss do less work take less pay... i say doesn't work... imply best change job that meets the intent and give a tongue in cheek example of such job... sure got other duties lah than just reading newspaper... wink.gif

big companies will have a corporate or external affairs department... pay is ok because have to follow pay scale... and more than ok if its mnc...

as for "living off her money"... is only temporary... wink.gif

Yes that's one reason why wife and i continue working after 45 although we could retire and do nothingness and still finance kids for studies

The issue is not money
We don't want kids to see us doing nothing at home. Won't motivate them at all to work harder and improve themselves. We want them to start from zero and work their reputation up.
*
but stay at home do nothing... is a you problem... laugh.gif

plenty of other things you can do for them to learned by example... wink.gif

What i am trying to say is 5mil may seems alot now, in cash..
And she is spending the FD interest and KLSE dividend as monthly household expenses, hence losing the compounding magic (if not being re-invested)
Moreover in  another 20 or 30years , your 5mil will 'feel like' 2.5mil in PPP.
Only Fixed Asset with rental income will be stable in value.  Long term wise, the shop will appreciate.  and Rental also appreciate.
*
depends on population growth.... current generation hard to have kids, des why got tax incentive for fertility treatment... and many dun wanna have kids...

if futures generation a lot end up tongkat ppl because gov sucks... your rental income is not that safe like you've envisioned...

25.9% pa going by  annual return over cost

i would have regretted if didnt whack 11 yrs ago
rentals up, cost averaging down from sold units

she has a condo... dunno her old place...

nice... high roi can only get from cheap cheap properties... only flipping can get higher... what is your roi after tax?
