I want to use iTunes to download audio and video podcasts. However, the speed that i got was pretty slow. I am not sure what is the problem, but when I am using Miro to download them, the speed is very fast and it does not take very long time as the iTunes does.
What is actually the main problem, which causes the download speed becomes slow? Anyone could suggest a solution?

I think it has something to do with uhm either Streamyx throttling iTunes download speeds or that iTunes servers are quite busy. I'd go with the first one though.

TM's Streamyx is most probably the culprit for what had happened!

It takes ages for me to download podcasts. I don't know whether its an Apple/iTunes thing or if its Streamyx. However, I'm more than willing to bet that its Streamyx.

Port forwarding in iTunes is through the System Prefs under Network and Proxies pane. I have heard that you can strip or mangle the headers such that the requests don't look like it's coming from iTunes and that can bypass the filtering. Look for paw which may help.

there is this thing in iTune. Create account
============
To buy items in the iTunes Store, you need one of these accounts:

An Apple account. If you've purchased items from the online Apple Store, bought an iPhoto book, or are a .Mac customer, then you have an Apple account. If you don't have one, you can set one up using iTunes.

An AOL account. If you already have an AOL account, you can use it instead.

After you have one of these accounts, you can set up an iTunes Store account and specify how you want to pay for iTunes Store purchases.
===========

Just type inside the help file for purchasing.
you will get some similar thing.
For us, i think we need to open a .mac account.

You can buy iTunes gift cards if you want to buy songs, even if you don't have a US credit card. Several people have offered them for sale before, use the search function.

I've had no problems with download speeds from the store itself although this varies. Podcasts though are almost all consistently slow.... Streamyx sucks

It's been a known issue for long time.
Head over this thread: http://mymug.org/forum2/index.php?topic=1915.0

We have some work-around to fix the issue.
