vincent_audio, thanks for your feedback, i'm aware of Flickr though and i've already check it out before making this thread. Yeah Leica's are in the range of 2K+ and above.
However i find myself more interested in Ricoh Digital GR lately. So yeah, anyone know the price range of this particular model?

I hear you philipcs, i'm going for the Ricoh too. Just a bit undecided when i was posting this thread. Now does anyone know how much is the Digital GR going for?

I have had a GR-D for a year now. Very solid camera with a good lens and practical features. The layout of the controls is also very good. I've also added the 21mm lens adapter kit. That lens takes some good pictures. The only thing I sometimes miss is a zoom and vibration correction. GR-D is a fixed 28mm lens. The new GX100 that came out a few months ago is worth looking into. It has a 24-72mm zoom in the same body as the GR-D. It also has vibration correction.

I got that in China. It was CNY 5,000, about MYR 2,200. The 21mm lens, 21mm viewfinder and lens adaptor cost another CNY 3,000+. I've seen it advertised in the Star for MYR 2,900??, ie the price in Malaysia is higher. Check out YL Camera Service in Pudu Plaza. They have a few on display.

i just got mine 2 months back.. in hk. got it around rm1.7k after hkd conversion. with 2 gig sd / pouch / 2 batteries. was lurking ard in KL for its price.. most shop need to do back order as they do not carry them at all! and price tag in KL is killing around rm2.4k-2.5k good for those who prefer to tweak alot when taking photos. a no-no for auto-mode shooter.

actually, why dont you consider the panny DMC LX-2? it's essentially the identical camera with the leica d-lux 3 with an even cheaper price tag (around 1.5k). i'd seen the reviews online saying that the picture quality is the same. only that the color is slightly more saturated on the panny due to different firmware.

Actually i've thought about getting a Panasonic DMC series before and now that you've mentioned about it i shall see how's my budget treating me. I guess maybe in the end if i can't save up for a Ricoh, i'll settle for the Panasonic.

Yes. The LX-2 is the most relevant competitor of the GR-D. It's got Leica colors and zoom and image stabilization, all at a lower price. The only thing that the GR-D beats it is speed. The GR-D can be set to focus at "Snap", which is 2M. So there is less shutter lag taking the picture. Not as fast as a DSLR, but still faster than most P&S's.

Cool. Now this thread has turned into a LX-2 instead. I'm seriously thinking about getting it now. It suits my budget better.
You guys rock, you know that.
