Does applying for Zerolution now requires a credit card? If it does require a credit card, this Zerolution plan should not be called Zerolution right? Originally you can walk out of the store with your brand new phone without paying anything for as long as you’re a valid postpaid subscriber. What gives?
*
The credit card is so that they can auto charge your installment for the phone.
It may be an issue if you don't intend to pay for installment.

let's say i pre order iphone 13 from maxis, it'll be telco locked it seems. does this mean it'll be telco locked forever? or maxis has certain period of time like 24 months later it'll be unlocked?
*
The PCBS locking only applies when you not paying for the phone installment.
After you complete paying for the installment, they cannot put you under PCBS.
Once the phone is PCBS locked, all telco in Malaysia jointly bar the phone from accessing any network in Malaysia.

Malaysia phone by telco is not telco locked. You can use in any network as long as you pay for the installment.

maxis rep explained to me, NOW, maxis by default requires some advance amount to be paid upfront for zerolution/360.
will be refunded through your future bills.

no longer the old zerolution/360, which really is no advance payment.
*
If not mistaken, the amount of advance payment subject to your historical payment credibility - if you are new user, if you always owe money and not paying on time then you will be subject to advance payment.
Encountered this and asked for explanation before cause a few of my friends and I all have different advance payment charges for the same models and same plan.

my payment record is impeccable.

reading t&c and based on what representatives (with an 's') explained, the fact remained that maxis already changed policy that now requires upfront payment for zerolution even if you found the amount differs based on their own determination. it's no longer zerolution that previously was zero downpayment, zero interest.

it's disappointing. but it's maxis' rights to regress and be similar as the other telcos. just move on.

I bit the bullet and walked-in to Maxis Centres the night right before CNY 1st Feb.

Maxis Centre Nu Sentral said I can get iPhone 13 Pro Max w/ zero upfront. But they only have 128GB version.

I immediately went to Maxis Centre KLCC the same night. They were fresh run out of 256GB. BUT, now I am told to fork RM3k+, not entitled to Zerolution.

bummer.

So on CNY 1st Feb, I went back to Nu Sentral. No longer give damn about bottom 128GB. Nu Sentral checked again I am entitled to zero downpayment.

Didn't wait for reverse in "fortune". Snapped the iPhone 13 Pro Max and the Watch Series 7.

Just stay on the same 128 rate plan as the difference of each next-level +RM30 jump in rate plan is a miniscule -RM3 in installment amount.

Do note that during what I assume is eligibility checks, both asked for NRIC, but Maxis KLCC never asked for TAC, while Maxis Nu Sentral asked for TAC both times.

[Why plonk ~RM8k in lump sum when I can pay it slowly over 3 years? If the phone is loss/broken within the 3 years, it does not change the fact I still became poorer by RM8k regardless full upfront or over 3 years. I'm staying on Maxis anyway, so enjoy the benefit of slow-cooking.]

Anyone that take zerolution package n require advance payment and yet proceed with the subscription?

If yes , what will be the "total BILL" OR TOTAL CURRENT charges" stated in the bill?
Anyone can snap shot sample bill page 1 or page 2?

Maxis will charge you with Upfront Payment if you are not eligibility.

So far mine never face this issue and my last Zerolution set is Samsung Galaxy Fold3 5G.

What you all need to be careful is check with the Maxis shop and request not installing the Maxis Device GUARD for any android device as with this installed then you will facing this device is financial and belongs to Maxis at notification, also you cannot factory reset the phone, cannot restore from Samsung Cloud, cannot using Samsung Smart Switch, cannot enable Developer mode and also cannot access Recovery mode.

I didn't know that Maxis shop was install this and I was surprise Maxis is totally blocked and and no way you can removed it included use Odin to reinstall the phone firmware. I even try purposely wrong entry of pattern where it should auto reset your phone after over 10 times attempts fail access your phone - this is also not function as long as your Maxis Device GUARD is active.

I call Maxis Center why they is Maxis Device GUARD install and my previous Maxis online store purchase Samsung Galaxy Flip3 5G is not included it but getting from Maxis shop is included. Maxis ask me go to that Maxis shop I get the phone. I go over there and request removal and they cannot also and told me this is requirement to install apps for all Android phone. I told them Maxis online store purchase don't have and Maxis Center ask me check with you. After some complain as the person install also not telling me where the terms mentioned it needs to be agreed by the customer and due to this I cannot factory reset and cannot use this and that is an issue. Later they log a case for me and later Maxis center ask for a screenshot provide Factory Reset cannot functioned and finally they deactivate this Maxis Device GUARD over the air and I was manage to uninstalled it.

Finally my phone now no longer have this Maxis Device GUARD and no more prohibition to use this and that include Factory Reset and no more notification of This device was financial and belongs by Maxis.

You cannot Factory Reset or Deactivate Maxis Device GUARD

Now I can Factory Reset the phone after uninstalled of Maxis Device GUARD.

Ya. Like buying house. They need to ensure you pay the installments.
