You buy a Wii without the knowledge of whether it's fun or not? doh.gif

It's all personal preference really. Same goes for the question, "Is <insert console> fun/good?"..

Best to try it first.

for older wii, they are modded with wiikey,i think it's cheaper compared to the d2c chip wii.
i have asked one of my friend and she offered me rm1550 for wii modded with wiikey.
But the price now ranged from 1650 to 1700 for standard modded us package (d2ckey).

I live in Penang and purchase from kl shop...no choice, couldn't really find good gameshops in penang and pretty lazy to drive.

is the installation of wii easy?
bernard told me it is very simple,so i guess so...any problems have to be solved by communicatiing with them in phone, but good service worth me doing so... drool.gif

wiikey is working well, but wiikey team has been away for a few weeks(his website is dead),so i'm afraid no future updates will be released. In addition, wiikey can only be installed in old chip which is d2b,that's why mostly all of the wii that are modded now are equipped with d2ckey,just because they are using d2c chip.

d2ckey costs $61.50,i have no idea how much will it cost if you employ someone to solder the modchip for you.

wiikey is for old wii and d2ckey is for new wii.

You can't change it to d2ckey but there are many other modchips for old wii like cyclowiz, wiifree, wiinja

I went to 3 shops today in USJ. I asked for price of modded Japanese set with 1 remote+1 nunchuck, etc.

One shop say RM1100, another say RM1200 and another says RM1300. Exactly same package.

I asked whether they take my still working PS2 as trade in. One willing to buy at RM150-200, one at RM200-300 and one at RM300 to 400 depend on condition.

Any comments?

The installation is easy... just REMEMBER... ADAPTOR!!! Else you fry your Wii. *sweat drop*
(I so scared i forgot and plug direct ... OR someone else wanna switch on my Wii and plug in without it...)

Main thing is the sensor (black color bar), you need to place it HORIZONTAL on top of your TV (I think under also can but top of TV works for me)

Best setting is IF you have a big TV screen (duh!) and it's leveled to your eye level... unfortunately for me.. I've only a 21" TV and it's on a LOW LOW bench... *sigh*

Wii is fun but getting the RIGHT game is important... look for games which UTILIZES Wii's revolutionary way of gameplay. A lot of the old games are recycle and require that you play your Wii like a PS2 console... (Gah... i found this out the EXPENSIVE way... *cry*)

It's really suitable for small kids and family fun... but I don't think it's suitable for games like RPG or those requiring long hours of gameplay. Don't get me wrong. I love RPG and most likely will still play those.. just that so far... I can't sustain more than an hour's play without getting tired... LOL... I am getting old. tongue.gif
(Slashing and thrusting is more tiring than button mashing... *grin*)

Have fun! smile.gif

yo,i couldn't agree with you more.
there are many games that i'm interested, especially tennis ,gonna try it on wiisports.
Medal of honour heros 2 can be played using wifi,i think it can be very exhilarating since it is fps...gotta try ghost squad also...i haven't actually played RE 4 and RE 1 in ps/ps2 ,so gotta try out them in wii,in fact i'm afraid of those horror scenes.

I find super paper mario is very exciting although it requires you to play with d-pad.

No more heroes seems very interesting to me,i hope i could get it in local stores soon.

there is a very fascinating rpg game released by nintendo namely Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn ,try it out biggrin.gif

may i know what is lastest price range?
btw if the wii is modded. will there be any problem if new firmware is out?
last i heard there is 3.2 which makes typing a bit easier due to keyboard
will wii fit be compatible with both NTSC/PAL?
