Bootcamp is installed in OSX , won't "deleting" OSX make bootcamp to be un-workable?

Need not buy an Apple and then run windows, sounds funny. I use Parellel and it works fine. After a while u would not want to run windows becos Mac is so much more better. It is course possible to run Windows only with Boot Camp where u have to partition the HD

Using Coherence is the best!!! |

1. Yes its possible
2. Unless you want a really expensive windows machine that will look good but run like any other windows machine I don't see the point 3. Refer to 2. But honestly once you use MacOSX and I mean like really get into it without bias, you will love it. 4. Why not use the Mac version of PowerPoint? I use it all the time and I have no problems sending files back and forth and collaborating with my windows using classmates. |

You should know that mobility is pricey, yet low-performance especially for graphic card. In order to play smoothly(Btw, i speaking in hardcore gamer, not some light gamer), you need Mac Pro which is a workstation (yet it's Overpower cos of the 2 server processors). Just for your extra info, there ain't any desktop machine for mac, except Mac Pro. If you are really a hardcore gamer, just forget about mac machine. That's my opinion. But if you got a generic desktop machine(for gaming), and you want try out mac osx, then you properly can get a mac machine. |

Look mate , now there are many application that allows you to run Windows games on top of OSX . Plus you can always boot to windows and run those games
The graphics card is a gaming graphics card and it can take the latest and upcoming games. So you should not have a problem |

QUOTE(wildarms @ Sep 15 2007, 06:50 PM) yap.. maybe they just had too much time... @wildarms, the main point is depending which type of games you want to play. If you love to play FPS(First person shooter) then any laptop or mobility is not your choice for gaming. Better get a desktop machine, which is much cheaper and powerful.Added on September 15, 2007, 5:57 pm that's wat i wondering.. from wat i saw on the macbook pro .... it got a 8600m gc inside (or something similar). but would it help it on going for gaming... or izzit for things like graphic designing stuff only... and i think it wont help for gaming rite... coz not much game are develop for mac... just curious Only newer mac machine(Intel mac) can install windows via bootcamp. Others like parallels, vmware or crossover are all virtualization(emulating OS ontop of mac osx) softwares. |

(i quite a hardcore gamers sometimes It's good to know someone else is willing to take that step into something totally new. Just in case you dont know. Mac runs OSX. Parallels, Vmware, Bootcamp, these stuff, offers alternative above OSX. Which means you can still run windows, linux, and all other OS while in the same time you can even run OSX. The simplest idea is this, when you want a window, you will get everything else but Mac, (of course there are exeptions like those Hackintosh) when you want a mac, let's put it this way. you will get everything that you will ever need. and that's assuming you are not those hackers out there who configure their own OS. and best of all, a new experience. and i still run windows at some point just to use the softwares that mac is lacking, but that doesnt mean i can play hardcore games on it. like those fps based games, you will usually give up playing once you tried it, it's just unplayable. Simple games like 2d and simple 3d games, may be. but that will depends on what machine you are choosing. |

I'm interested to get an imac since it is more affordable these days and having dual boot (Windows XP & OSX) would certainly be what I'd like to have.
Primarily, I'd run OSX but if I need to run some games or having compability issues, etc, I can always turn to Windows. My question is, do I have to purchase "Boot Camp" or is it free? How hard is it to get softwares in Low Yat/Imbi Plaza for Mac? *if you get what I mean* |

Parallel Desktop is when u want to run BOTH Mac OSX and Windows at the same time.
Its an alternative to Bootcamp, when u can only run either OSX OR Windows. |

boot camp is very straight foward, download it from apple website
but i suggest you to wait a little longer, coz the new OSX 10.5 aka "leopard" will be released very soon and the final version of bootcamp is bundled with it. This post has been edited by gigaforce: Oct 3 2007, 03:46 AM |
