I have been very uncertain on getting an iPad or Mi pad 5. Ipad as usual have better software iPadOS but their entry-level model looks ancient with big bezels and non-laminated display. But i heard with an iPad it can easily last you 4-5 years while xiao mi devices tend to last only 2-3 years. Mi Pad 5 really attracts me as it is priced closely to the iPad 9th generation but have 120 hz display and laminated screen.
Which should I choose? My main usage on the tablet will be some light reading and studying using the stylus (no keyboard is needed in the process).

If you want to keep it long term go with the iPad. Otherwise the Mi Pad will offer better looks and media consumption capabilities, especially for videos.

the mi pad 5 seems like slightly higher spec than my galaxy tab s6. the price is definitely greater than apple.
different user different experience. for me my mi pad 1 lasted 4 years, my redmi note 5 going to be 5th year liao, still good. ads in app not really intrusive. i see ads i js long press to force close.

I'm having the same dilemma as well.
the latest iPad looks very dated, still with thick bezel.
But the tablet experience is so mush better on iPad, plus iPad can last a very long time.

if dont care the look, just go with iPad ... But if want something sleeker, then mipad or ipad Air
my personal experience, iPad does last longer since still able to update after 4 years, but android usually 3 years upgrade given.

iPad has 5 years software support.. most Android tablet is only at best 3 years software support.. Looking at this. iPad is the winner if you intend to keep the tablet tonmax out the ROI. But majority ppl will get a new tablet after 2 or 3 years because of hardware advancement..

I'm in same dilemma. I like the apps more on ios but still hesitate. I used to own iPad mini 1st gen and I find the os very restrictive. Just transferring files also troublesome. The iPad still using lightning and outdated looks.
Mi pad looks nicer and higher specs but the apps...

I bought my Huawei tablet 2 years ago. The RM799 3gb ram 32gb rom. Today still very good. But of coz tarak stylus. But it has served me well for 2 yrs. Used it for video watching and some light farming game. Battery wise still very good. No laggy issues except Netflix when I keep fast forward, then Netflix hang. But so far so good.

I think most importantly you need to think of which OS you want to use. For me I stick with Android as IOS is much more restrictive (better safety I believe?). I can side load APK which I downloaded from website apart from the playstore but Ipad seems doesn't have this flexibility

Have to agree on iPad better reliability. I'm unlucky to have quality issues with Xiaomi previous generation mi pad.

QUOTE(heihei2 @ Nov 27 2021, 11:15 AM) mi pad 5 screen have terrible light reflection also yeap and it’s very heavy too…the main point though is the slight lag on a new machine at the display shelves, can’t imagine using it for few months down the road..
