Not sure how the custom clearance work, but can they get clearance ahead or at the same time during delivery? or custom need to see actual item before give clearance?
The actual tracker that you see is a 'summarized' version - the more detailed paperworks are usually hidden from the eyes of the consumers.
Before the physical parcel reach Malaysia, paperworks are usually sent to customs as an incoming notice and once the parcels actually touchdown - the customs will crosscheck with the documents etc to validate it.
At times Apple's paperwork might / might not be submitted in time for clearance - usually there's 2 clearance occurrence in a day, AM and PM - not sure if PM still available, it's been awhile. Usually it will be done at EPJ - Subang Airport.
Apple usually have a special 'permit' that does not involve rigorous checks for their parcels - its just a touch and go. The only challenge is the paperwork - whether it's submitted on time or not, that's that challenge.
