Just went to see the new civic and test drove a red RS.

V is 13k more than E. I actually prefer 17" rims with higher profile tyres; I don't really like leather seats and personally feel hifi is not for the car so I don't really care about sound system and screen size. Funnily the 0-100 figures are .1 second apart with the E being the fastest. Left lane watch is actually dangerous if you take your eyes off the road to watch the screen. Honda connect is useless to me; had in my BMW never used. Same with paddle shifter.

I guess I will only miss the auto wiper, the auto headlight dip, the motorised seat movement. Also I will miss the Michellin tyres.

I paid a 1k refundable deposit with option to change the variant/colour. Dealer in Sec 13. I can't really decide which variant to go for. I am told the RS has 13 waiting on the list, the V has 2 and the E has 3.

Any ideas?

I'm sure you know that E is actually 16" with even higher profile tyres... What is this auto headlight dip that is missing on the E? You can easily swap out the MC6 for Michelins at a small loss from fresh trade in.

But if you are attracted by the E spec then I can tell you I as an owner I do miss auto wipers because my ex-car has it. I don't miss anything else. Its great value for me.

I also wish we have blindspot monitoring, rear cross traffic alert.

Come to think of it, the one thing I think its really missing is the low speed steering torque assist. As a result Lane Keep can only function above 72km/h and it can only turn around 20deg of steering, not more. This is WAY below Toyota Altis capability which can function closer to zero km/h and has maybe another 10deg more steering assist. Basically it functions all the way to slow speed in town, while the Honda can only do this partially in a highway.

Yes, sorry, it's a typo I do realise the E comes with 16 inch rims.

This dark grey colour according to Sec 13 dealer is in short supply for some reason. They say bestsellers are white, black and red.

And this is why you always carry a small spray bottle of quick detailer solution within your glove box

And speaking of tissues... For the time being got to utilize that very awkward storage compartment lol

Yours is the E spec right? the bodywork colour and rims are a perfect match. Still using the Conti tyres or upgraded?

VTEC kicked in yo! better turbo, CVT and exhaust valve lifts.
e spec no need racer racer la... thank god for my 6 speed manual NA lol
wrong la. cuz the high side walls is based on the tire width and a % of it. 16" isn't much thicker than the 17" offering, and the difference also comes to smaller rims.
Wheel Size
18"17"16"
Tyre Size
235/40ZR18  215/50R17  215/55R16
bro, 5% thicker of 215mm, you can feel or not?!
especially when both tires same brand and model?!
107.5mm vs 118.2mm
1cm

but. if you compare a 16" MC5 vs 17" PS4 or RE004, fuh day and night difference 17" bumpy die you. (exaggeration a bit la lol)

i do have 2 sets of rims for my other car la, but definitely 100% won't even bother for this FE Civic laugh.gif
got better ways to spend my money.
though i do agree, if this car is your 1 car does all vehicle, doing so isn't such a bad choice.

Has anyone here had any experience spray painting or powder coating rims? Quazacolt is lucky his FE body colour and the colour of the rims are a perfect match! In my case I booked a red E and I think silvery rims won't really look good with a hot red body so the cheapest way (without having to change the rims) is to paint them black. A friend of mine told me most tyre shops offer this service. I am wondering if anyone has first hand experience. Also, either the car and the rims (obviously) will be held up at the tyre shop for as long as it takes to paint (and then for the paint to dry) - could be a whole days' job if not more. Worth doing? I thought of buying aerosol spray and DIY but I know the paint wont stick on the shiny rim surface unless it's treated or sanded.

only had spray painting never powder coated my rims. sent to Kean Tyre Solution at Jalan Ipoh

i think your rims may still look fine! as it has that dark grey accents that could blend as black in certain shades (or after it is coated in brake dusts lol) and that's kinda your black + silver mixed together.
the rims are hit or miss/love hate for me, too... complicated/too many spokes. makes cleaning a pain (that's why just outsource LOL)

you could try plastidip and that does stick for a while... and see if you fancy the colors or not.
the power windows seem to have a bit of delay and that pop/suction sound when it finally opens up.
touching the tint edge is also thicker (very noticeable compared to my non security huper optik tints)

so a glance back to the receipt, i was like, woah, TCP6!
2mm extra lol
even the front and rear was upgraded if you based on this standard package:
https://www.tintauto.com.my/demo/wp-content...ackage-2018.pdf
TOP70/HPPRO35 or 50, became PP50 front and rear laugh.gif

sorry, what is plasticdip? and where to get it?

Everything under the sun can be bought in Shopee or Lazada these days :

keyword - either plastidip or rubber paint.

ok thanks. just to be sure, we spray direct on to the rim, outside while the rim/tyre still on the car right? I suppose one has to mask the tyre so that the tyre does not kena the paint. probably inside the rim also have to put newspaper mask otherwise might also spray other car body parts such as brake drum/caliper. Am I correct?

Hi Civic owners. In early March I put in a booking for a red E. Still waiting. I would like to ask how the Honda Service works. If say you buy from Dealer X in say Seremban, can you send for service or warranty claim at say Dealer Y in PJ?

Also Honda Malaysia does not directly sell cars to end buyers right? You have to buy from an appointed dealer correct, is there a master dealer or are all dealers created equal? Is there any preferred dealer? I notice some dealers like Honda Glenmarie have big showrooms and service centres whereas others like the one I booked my car with - Honda Section 13 PJ have a much smaller showroom and service centre.

Anyone bought the E or V variant in red colour. Don't mind to post some side view pix to see how the chrome wheels match the red body colour.

1/2 for black rs comes with $1.5k discount. Can we buy the insurance direct to save another 10% premium instead of going thru dealer?
*
From my understanding, if you don't buy insurance from Honda, the rebates are slightly less. They also don't like buyers like me who buy without loan. They get kickbacks from insurance and about rm600 from finance companies for loan. For my red E I managed to get 1.5k off. Some small town dealers even wanted to add on a rm600 "handling fee" for cash buyer.

Here's my story of booking and end result:

Early March I booked a Civic E red and paid 1k deposit. Come 1st week of April, no sign of any incoming stock in my choice. I was offered one dark grey E end March and light grey E in early April but I declined.

Since my older car was going to be sold on April 7, I took things into my own hand. I called about 30 dealers from Kuala Selangor to Senawang and of course most of the Klang Valley ones. Malacca and Seremban too.

To my surprise, many dealers had excess unallocated stocks, mostly white but the Kuala Selangor and Senawang dealers had the red I wanted. Kuala Selangor dealer said no discount and in addition, charge extra rm600 for cash purchase. Senawang dealer also arrogant, no discount; promised to whatsapp photos but never did. I wanted to throw in the towel and go for the white which 2 dealers in Malacca and Damansara had ready stock and were able to give 1.5k discount.

Since my PJ booking was refundable, I told this story to my SA that I was going to go for another dealer who had ready stock. Suddenly she worked very fast to find me a red E and all this while it was in Bangsar (albeit not excess stock but original booking cancelled one) and since it was "networking" with another SA from another company, reduced my discount from 2k to 1.5k. Still I am happy. Thursday last week I told her this story and ask for refund. Friday she found me the car. Saturday I went to inspect. Sunday I paid in full. I would have got the car today if not for some NCD issue. So tomorrow I will be getting the registered car.

So this story will conclude that if they want, the SA can do magic but they are reluctant because when they do "networking", they have to share the commission.

Hope this info helps you secure your car in a timely manner.

why change? whats wrong with 3 series?

on a serious note, a car needs 5 years commitment, i dont think its good for you to change your mind easily.

not like you can get civic quickly anyway.

You did not read his LYN handle. He can like get a civic like yesterday...

I agree with you about not asking discount raises the chance of sudden stock appearing but offering additional is really kiasu!

A lot of people are of the view that it may be better to just repaint the car after x number of years given the cost of coating these days.

Guys what's the best way to check a secondhand car condition and make sure it's accident and flood free? My brother is thinking of buying a 2021 tcp from a used car dealer. Do people like carsome do an inspection on site. Used car dealer will never agree to taking it to carsome. And look at the car price! Higher than a new E!
