I live in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. I enjoy steaks a lot, I assume most people do but ain't it hard to get my hands on decent steaks with preferred weight and thickness at a fair price, Fresh steaks are hard to come by so I wouldn't even bother so I'm curious if anyone knows a shop in KK, online shops in the west that offers shipping to Sabah or even overseas cuz I've tried searching for steak sellers overseas and mostly they dont ship them here nor the ones I've found on the Lazada app or in the west. I would love to enjoy a good steak or 2 a month but steaks I've bought are disappointing as the steaks are cut in a weird shape and everyone loves a good thick cut of steak but that isn't possible from the shops I got em. If thr r any recommendations, I'd gladly take a look at em, Tq.

try search for local meat suppliers, importers & wholesale food, etc. you should be able to buy a whole block of frozen or chilled ribeye, sirloin, etc...and cut to order.

unfortunately I could only find ones that only exist in the west side, only 2 local ones which are the ones I got my steaks from with the weird cuts 😭

wanted to reply directly to each of ur replies but site said somethin abt remove HTTP or somethin, And i dnt understand so imma just reply lile this.

@VireCwx
Yea, The 2 places I got my steaks r there and Hong Seng. They don't offer the option to request for specific weight and sizes for ur steak cuts, not only that, they also come in weird shapes which makes cooking it evenly abit difficult when ur looking for medium rare.

@HighBall
Imma be honest, I cant afford wagyu 😂😂 not even once once every 2 months, but I like striploin the most, The fat cap is my fav thing abt it, people prefer ribeye, I guess its cuz of the marbling, but I havent ate a ribeye with much marbling yet so I dont rly know if I would prefer ribeye over striploin but for now definitely striploin. Also, I try to avoid take away steaks unless ur eating it thr, Fresh hot steak is the best, even better when homemade

Good steak is expensive. Fresh mean chilled and air flown, you are looking at >RM 200/kg. Instead of buying from supermarket, you could buy from wholesalers, which could be cheaper and may cut to your size.

Can try steakyhouse.. can find them at Facebook. Personally think their wagyu is good quality after trying so many.

Yes, looks cool. My regular way of cooking steak is Sous vide + iron cast sear, but my wife hinted will divorce me if I smoke out the house again.
So I bought a induction cooker to sear it outside but my bloody luck the Philips one that I bought is not powerful enough. It always goes to max for 2 mins only and then auto shut off again.

Edit- Actually we love charcoal and smoke, I'm thinking about this kind of thing-

You can try ask frozen food suppliers or hotel/steakhouses. They usually don’t display it out and sold as a whole sirloin. Will cut for you according to thickness. That’s how I usually buy my leg of lamb here in the west.

I usually season my steak with salt and pepper then air dry it on a rack and pan. I’ll pan fry it to give it some colour and finish off in the oven for 5 minutes.
