I'm planning to buy a new laptop since my current laptop has reached 5 years old now. So I did a research and found the best one for me based on specs. Asus TUF Gaming F15 2021 (FX506HM) – not to be confused with TUF Dash F15 – seems good enough for its price and I might use it for the next 5 years more. I'm choosing the FX506HM variant because I need 8 cores and the 6 GB VRAM.

I'm just wondering if there's anyone that has got their hands on it and if there's any problems with the machine. Heard that 2020 TUF A15 has design problems (blocked vents) so I'm worried about throttling.

I also accept any suggestions if there's any alternatives equivalent to or better than F15 (RM6k below)

Here's the spec I got from Asus MY website.

OS
• W10 Home

Graphics
• NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3060 Laptop GPU,Up to 1630MHz at 90W (95W with Dynamic Boost),6GB GDDR6

Processor
• Intel® Core™ i7-11800H Processor 2.3 GHz (24M Cache, up to 4.6 GHz, 8 Cores)
*Malaysia doesn't have the i9 variant.

Display
• 15.6-inch,FHD (1920 x 1080) 16:9,anti-glare display,sRGB:62.5%,Adobe:47.34%,Refresh Rate:144Hz,Value IPS-level
*Malaysia doesn't have the 100% sRGB 240hz IPS variant

Memory
• 16GB DDR4-3200 SO-DIMM,Max Capacity : 32GB

Storage
• 512GB M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® 3.0 SSD

So what do you guys think? It is still sold out everywhere for the time being.

Could you suggest any alternatives? Preferably the ones with 11th gen Intel processor and RTX3060 GPU.
I don't mind the MUX vs Optimus and the mediocre screen. I'm not sure if there's any laptop with higher TGP in the RM5k budget. And how hot does it get?

yeah anything under RM6k - would be great if there's any with MUX.
Since I'm staying home for a long time currently and I have a monitor, yes I'll connect to one.

Are you referring to this Legion 5 (15ACH6H)?
https://www.lenovo.com/my/en/laptops/legion...6H/p/82JU00HTMJ

I'll consider that since it does have better display and I'll need that for video editing. I would've chosen Legion if their 5i has RTX3060 variant... unless I missed it in the product page. Also, does 15ACH6H come with dual channel ram?

Thunderbolt 4 could be useful for future purposes but AMD still doesn't have it. That's also why I'm going for TGL-H.

Not really urgent because I'm planning to buy it at the end of the year or January... or whenever the stock is available but I'll probably buy from physical stores.

yes, website prices can be cheaper due to codes, it has retail models also (no need to wait long)

u might want to wait and see got good deal or not

ah 5i with RTX3060 + i7-11800H would be much better. Looking at Lenovo store page again, only 5i Pro got the specs i want but RM8k is too much. Is there a Shopee/Lazada product page for the regular 5i so I can wishlist it? Doesn't seem to be on their site so I'm not sure if they removed it.

I'm still leaning toward TUF for now. Still got months to decide lol.

I wouldn't wait. With the chip shortage prices are going to go up.

I found the product page for Legion 5i with the specs I need

I'm most likely going to choose this if it becomes available. A little bit over the budget but I think it would be worth it.

If you don't mind clevo based customized laptops from Level 51 and Illegear you can consider them too.

I did consider them but their support centres aren't widely available and I'm not near to their locations. I don't want to poslaju the laptop just to get it fixed :/
