Hey, I went to 1 Utama today. I visited the Jusco Home centre and saw that they're selling sugar gliders. They're selling females for RM 350. All of them are about 3 inches to 3 and the half inches without tail. They're selling another sugar glider for RM 120.
The condition is pitiful... They're put in a 'glass cubicle' with no climbing toys or surface. Just a couple of logs around the bottom. The light was glaring and only cat food was fed... All the poor suggies were trying to squeeze under the log which was the only shade available from the harsh lighting... Couldn't even get sleep... The poor poor things... Sobs... T.T You see them squirming and kicking each other to get into the hollow of the log, it'll make your heart cry. Some more outside got people say "so cute... look like very easy to take care only". Really so ignorant...
The person in there gave me wrong information when i buy pets from him before. Make it sound so easy to take care. And the animals are kept in filthy cages... If open the 'glass cubicle', sure will stink sky high. |

QUOTE(nebcrys @ Dec 16 2007, 10:51 PM) pity pity...... People can be ignorant... They're simply too trusting of what pet store owners tell them and didn't bother to research. I made that mistake once and I never made that mistake again. This is considered as animal cruelty in my opinion...dam pet stores! all they care about is their sales.... not even caring about the animals welfare... how can these people own pet stores!!??? so dam cruel... but people STILL buy..... haih! |

I still can't believe pet store owners and personnels can get away with lying to customers to sell their animals. Isn't there a law or something? Isn't this against consumer rights or something??

QUOTE(Reanne @ Dec 19 2007, 10:01 PM) That percentage is questionable. Best to give a higher percentage of protein for growing joeys. 50% fruits by 50% protein. Crickets are higher in protein. Always choose fruits that have higher calcium ratio over phosphorus as the main, fruits that are vice versa should only be given occasionally. Sweet fruits are preferred by gliders, so testing a bit before hand would be good. Some gliders won't touch fruit that are not sweet until they are really hungry, which you shouldn't resort your glider to doing. And believe me, some times fruits can taste so bland that it make me lose my appetite. Yay! So I can get a suggie then. Thanks!Adults don't need so much protein, so you can reduce to the 25/75 percentage. But once in a while a little boost in protein wouldn't hurt. No, you don't NEED to feed your gliders pinkies. Some gliders don't like them though. |

QUOTE(silverwineus @ Dec 20 2007, 09:38 PM) Jamien, I believe you will find your anticipated SG to be an imtimate companion, like Ah Pit happily stoning there on the shoulder. I hope so too. BTW, do suggies shed a lot of fur? and do they have biting problems? I'm talking about serious biting problems. My hamsters seem to love biting me for fun...After many months of relationship building with my gliders, they have become intimate with me now. When i let them out during play time, usually at my workstation at home, i will put on a sweater. While i work on my PC, my glider will be roving in and out of my sweater. Sometimes will perch on my shoulder. And i will also hand feed them mealworm treats and stroke them as well. Usually and mostly, they will be hanging around close and not wander off. Wearing a sweater or garment with sleeves will prevent skin allergy. But we must be extra careful not to accidentally sit or lean our back on them. |

Then if they bite you just let them bite? Won't that make them think it is ok to bite?
So they don't drop a lot of fur? My guinea pig sheds fur wherever she goes. And I saw 1 thing called flexi tray. Is that a cage like thing like flexarium? I''m planning to use that since i'll be moving and gotta take the tray with me. This post has been edited by Jamien: Dec 22 2007, 12:11 AM |

There was once when I was returning home from my hometown in Penang during chinese new yesr. We started in the afternoon (about 12) and ended home at about 12 midnight. Can suggie just stay in the pouch if i can't let them out yet?

I saw a pair of wild gliders awake at the Jusco Home centre. One man was poking his finger at the glider, thinking it was cute and would probably lick his finger. Instead, it started crabbing loudly and took a bite on the man's fingernail. O_O Scary lil things. The sugar gliders must feel crabby from the glaring light and lack of nutrition.

actually I know some of the workers at PS. Not really personally lar, but PS is the place I used to hang out a lot in. Many of the workers think they're terror cuz they can handle the animal and pretend to be smart eventhough they know nothing about the animal.
1 worker told me he gets bitten often by snakes. I heard that if u handle a snake correctly you would hardly get bitten. =.=" I was a bit speechless when I heard that. |
