broken_string, hope your pet gets well soon.

^^" You should never put your finger or hand in front of any animal while it's eating right? Kinda like asking to get bitten.

Btw, I'm curious to ask where do u guys work that can bring sugar gliders?

O_O broken_string, i don't have a glider yet and I have't experienced wat you're going through, but I think your sugar glider's condition is screaming "get me to a vet now!" it looks serious....

About chocolate bring toxic, my dad's friends owned a rabbit which was huge and cute. I was shocked to find that the couple were feeding it chocolate and ice cream. The rabbit must like it too since it eats it eagerly everytime. I think the couple must be feeding the chocolate for a certain time. Anyway, I went to their house after slightly less than 1 year, and found out that their rabbit passed away. The rabbit wasn't really old and and has the best care (1 small room all for itself, fresh vegetables, water and rabbit pellets, etc) it was healthy (external wise) so i think it's probably the chocolate and ice cream coming into effect.

So I think that owners should lay off chocolates and ice cream for your pets. they're human food meant for humans and obviously it doesn't do well for your pets (and excessive amounts of chocolate and ice cream isn't good for people either. It's considered junk food right?).

Mako, I don't think Reanne meant it as an insult... There are also mass breeders who produce good quality pets I guess and we shouldn't say ALL millers are bad. But I think the major difference of a home breeder hobbyist and a mass breeder's pet is the tameness? A mass breeder probably doesn't have that much time to bond and get all their animals accustomed well to people. I mean there are hundreds right? Taking care of them is already such a task so it is perfectly understandable. Homebreeders have the luxury of taming their pets because they have less and more time? So if tameness is considered part of "quality"... You get my drift? No offense meant at all Mako. If I offended you I apologize. ^^" It's just that I like pets who are tame and can be easily well bonded to me, besides being healthy.

I think making a collar for him is a good idea broken_string. It's probably heal faster if your glider doesn't bite open the wound and make it worse right? Worth a try. smile.gif I will pray for your glider to get better to ya. Really hope he does.

And comparing really doesn't bring much benefit to anyone except self satisfaction... I think if you know that you are taking care of your animals well, then it's good enough.

As for wat some mass breeder, i think just giving just apple and cat/dog food isn't healthy for the glider right? It isn't nutritionally fulfilling. It doesn't mean that THE BEST must be given to the mass breeder's gliders because yes, it can be costly lar, from buying such a large quantity. But it should be nutritionally satisfying right? To ensure health? So Reanne is just saying apple + dog/cat food only not enough to keep glider in good condition.

Speaking of tweezers, cannot just use a common tweezer?

broken_string, you must try to put on the collar lo. Most animals are like that, they don't like being restricted. But for its own good you must do it. Try to put it as loose as you can but your suggie cannot take it off. I don't think will suffocate if not too tight. you observe it a while lar. If still moving after fifteen minutes should be ok kot?

Just try your very very best. The rest is up to itself. buttercup's had a similar case but got better ma. have faith la. Monitor it carefully. You just put on the collar. Maybe the effect can see in a few days. Only can try. and pray for it. Really hope it gets well...

broken_string, jia you! You should not give up until the very end. he still has hope for recovery right?? It was simply bad luck...

Try on the collar for a few days, maybe it will be better. If not... Let's hope it doesn't come to that.

Anyway, your suggie is counting on you. It might seem cruel but if it can survive, wouldn't you give him a fighting chance? Your suggie can only depend on you, so don't give up! He needs you. And we're all rooting for you and him!

^^" Human kena buasir won't scratch and bite wan ma... This wan more serious a bit.

Try to get the collar on ASAP. And really, I think you shouldn't be pessimistic and call yourself all sorts of negative names. smile.gif You have to be strong enough for you and your suggie. There's hope till the very last second. Gambateh.

No la. Don't be silly. I'm very sure God has a purpose for everything he make us go through.

It's a good idea to bring him to the vet tomorrow. The solution for putting on the collar is simple. You just need determination. There's a saying "You've got to be cruel to be kind". You have to put on the collar even if your suggie dislikes it and refuses to wear it because it's for its own good. You must be determined to put it on and must be determined to go through with it, no matter how your suggie struggles. It must be done. And I think you need 2 person to put on the collar, 1 person to put the collar on him and 1 person to hold him while you do it. You can ask the vet's for help. Just remember the collar has to be put on. And bring gloves to shield from biting.

You're trying your best to get him better right? You are trying to end his suffering by making him better. It's just that there's simply nothing else you can do (except the collar. that's priority 1!)

You're not a bad owner. It's just a bad turnabouts. Neither you nor your suggie chose for this to happen. You didn't leave him alone when he needs you and that's what counts the most.

He may not have chosen you but you are his as much as he is yours. If suggies could speak he would definitely thank you for caring for him so much. smile.gif There are many instances in life where we have no choice but realize we were blessed with just the right person. The best example are your parents and your siblings. Right? If you're married, it could be your children. You may want a child but you can't choose a particular child. God chooses. We accept and do what we can. smile.gif We still grow and love our families. Same with your suggie. you are his family. And you love him to bits, that's what matters most.

Anyway, don't write him off the book yet. FIGHT! He's still alive and eating and that is an encouragement. Life hold hope right? He NEEDS you, he needs your love, your care, your attention and for you to be strong right now more than ever. Be with your suggie. Support it.

Everything will be ok one way or another.

The cage looks so nice... I want to make my own cage but all the instructions look so difficult and confusing to me (I was never good in KH stuff). So I have to opt for a cage. Been looking.

Can I come? I won't have one till the next few months. Still in preparation. Don't have it too far lar... Somewhere easy to reach.

KLCC as well as its park is anti pets. They don't allow animals. Maybe can ask management or something.

^^ Congratulations emino!

Hmmm... I don't feel we need any professionals. ^^" Maybe it's just me but I tend to avoid professionals because they speak hugh class and use terms i dunno just to say somethihng simple. smile.gif simple people on the other hand just speak simply what is easy to understand straight forwardy.

Plus what we're doing is general educating. One person can only do so much. Divide and conquer is the tactic. Many volunteers to help people better understand the commitment of having a suggie. After the Star newspaper feature, I think more people will be interested to get a suggie but not many will know about how to take care of one.

@bonai : we don't get mad at people lar. Many people here are just concerned for the welfare of suggie. Instead of getting a suggie that may fall sick, of course we all aim to have better chances in getting a happy and healthy suggie mar. So we're here to learn? No offense intended.
