Weight will affect FC nonetheless. Mine is 3ppl (or 2) with always trunk full of bags, cloths, food & microwave oven. Lol.

5ppl... hmm... maybe climbing toward the Ipoh tunnel you need to engage '3'.

Toll is around 26 + 18 + 7 + .xx = 51.xx
*
I had never change the gear to 3 when climbing up the hill. I travel Perlis to KL. KL to KB. KB to Perlis. I just step on the gas pedal harder.

However I did change the gear to 3 once, when I got pissed off by a VW GTI.

Mileage clock at almost 10K. My FC for highway is 16 km/L and in town around 10 to 13km/L. That is what the meter shown. Don't calculate it myself. Perhaps it is due to my heavy right foot.

I see. Probably you are avg on 130km/h or more tongue.gif, which is around 16km/L on highway. Try 110km/h and you'll get 18km/L.
*
Yes, got to try that. However, the gravity keep pulling my right foot down. rclxub.gif How can I solve this problem?

whats wrong with the aircond?? my aircond is freaking damn cold. my temp is not even to the max and im alwyas on fan speed 1 only. night time worst, sometimes i just off aircond and drive with my windows down instead.

this is coming from a person who is afraid of heat and sweats easily.
*
What can I say is, My Naza Ria air cond is far far better than Vios.

*
For minor scratch, you just need to buy paste for paint (below RM20), and apply it with your finger. Very easy.

Don't need to slam that hard. You just have to make sure that your finger should position in the middle. rclxm9.gif

you know what? i actually bought the vios J together with 2 of my other friends, same batch, 2 of us get auto, one of them get manual. i've driven that friends manual one and its really fuuuuunnnnnn to drive, suddenly switch back to my auto felt very sluggish pulakz, ish... rclxms.gif
*
sluggish? I disagree with you. My VIOS can go to 180km/h just like that.

I got the S version bought in February 2008. Mileage at about 20K. Mine also produce the same sound. However, I don't know what the problem is. BTW, the sound will disappear once I step hard on the gas pedal. vmad.gif

Cons about this car:
1. Bad remote control, or maybe the alarm system.
2. The shrieks sound.
3. Hard to close boot.

Apart from that, I think this car is not bad.

Guys, sorry to barge in the middle of "fire sale offers" of new Vios.

I own a 2008 Vios (yes, the dugong). I'm wondering if anyone face similar problem with the driver seat. It often shrieks (annoying sound) when going thru uneven road surface. The SC Kuantan attempted it once (they said they re-grease the seat railing) but the sound came back. I also DIY with normal grease lubricant but the sound comes back after 5-10 minutes of driving.

Any idea? It's not a major problem la, but it annoys the hell out of me (esp after buying a darn 84K car).

I use fully synthetic. Therefore, only at every 10K km, I visit the SC.

QUOTE(kayap00 @ Feb 18 2009, 10:12 AM)
i done my vios 1st service yesterday .

SC used mineral lubricant.

wanna ask expert here..
my milage every day is bout 100km (in town - jammed every day) ..

so at the 2nd and the following service, should i continue using the mineral for every 5k service or need to use semi-syn??

Perhaps the G version is better then. You get 15" & disc brake at the back.

Safety first.

hazremi, what if you wait for another one or two years.

Try to save some amount of money, in equal to what you can afford to pay as the installment for J spec, every month.

I think, by that time you could buy the G spec. Be patient.

IMHO, stock car is better. Use it as is.

Usually, modding your car will make you visit the wordkshop more frequent.

Save the money for modding the car, for the Toyota SC. Always use original parts. Service your car as scheduled. Perhaps you could also afford to use the fully synthetic oil (reduce the number of SC visits to half).

p/s:
1.Rich people always say: If you want fast car, go and buy a fast car. If you want beautiful car, go and buy a beautiful car. Modding the car, shows that you are not rich.

2. I don't work for Toyota. I am also a "makan gaji" man.

If I buy J spec, I will also change the RIM to bigger size la lightweight 16" 50/195width, HU player change to those better than the S-spec one la..Pioneer brand or what usb input oled display or bla bla. and put full body kit all round. Then go add 2 fog lamp in front, the side mirror signal light who cares la.. =) I think need about 3k-4k can complete the whole job. =) still comes to around E-spec price which i think the rim is super ugly, the player sucks and no body kit. the only part win is the side mirror signal light =))

One more thing, remember to remove the J logo at the rear boot ....  laugh.gif  so no one gonna know it's J spec.  sweat.gif  blush.gif
*
But, you still don't get the rear disc brake. rclxms.gif

rear disc brake didnt mean anything...

rear drum brake also didnt mean dangerous...  whistling.gif

You are absolutely right. Rear disc brake didn't mean anything.

However, it should be into consideration to driver that like to mod their car. Usually, what type of driver will mod. their car?

My point is, put your money on safety first, beauty comes later.

Just think about it.

The original question by that guy is should he choose J or G.

His problem with G is no USB port fro MP3, and so with J. Therefore, he ask on what aspect does G better than J, since he can mod the J, with cheaper cost.

So, I replied that G has the rear disc brake, whilst J doesn't. And I advice him to wait for a year or two, and save some money, so that he can choose choose G.

However, he replied that money is not a problem, but, he refuse to spend an extra of RM12K for G, if he could mod the J with cheaper cost.

Therefore, I replied that no matter how he mod the J, he still don't get the rear disc brake.

As a conclusion, my point is that, safety should be put in consideration, in advance, instead of the car look, when buying a car.

During ordering? You can only upgrade the letter. From J to E, E to G and G to S.

People here in LYN mostly are Honda and Proton fanboy. Occasionally you will meet few *super* Toyota fanboy out of no where.

Fanboy aside, objectively, what are you going to compare?
- FC: 13~14km/L for city drive, 16~18km/L for highway drive. Brochure says it has avg 15.xxkm/L - no where you could achieve that if you whole time in city drive however, highway drive will get much better than that.
- Handling: Vios is stable & comfort enough, but not good with cornering @ 100km/h.
- Gadget: ViosJ is the roti-kosong of car. Good if those want to mod steering wheel & ICE. Rear seat is not foldable too. Super basic reliable car moving from A to B.
- Design: This is subjective. This you depend on yourself. Well, my round of friends says Persona, BLM and new City are fugly but they also say Gen2 is damn looking good. And just little of them don't like the new Vios look while most of my friend is Proton owner.
1. No idea. Vios E/G/S fog lamp on/off switch is integrated on the main lamp switch. J doesn't have that unless you add external switch below the right aircond vent.
2. Yes. Price=no idea.
3. No diff. 4AT gated shift.
4. With enough  $$$, yes you can mod drum to disc. But what for? You are not going to do ultra-late-braking skill every now & then.
5. .... no idea...
6. All color available - while, grayish blue, gold, silver, black.
*
You are absolutely right. If you need rear disc brake, buy the G then.

housepower or horsepower?

If your VIOS can speed up to 300km/h, then only you need the GT-Wing. Otherwise, it is a waste. BTW, it won't increase the hp.

You shouldn't mod or add anything to your daily use car. Even a fuel saver gadget is a total waste (I had tried a few of them in my previous car).

One day you will realized that you wasted a lot of money, for nothing.

Once you change something, you will need to change something else. A very simple example would be the sport rim. Changing it to a larger diameter one, would require you to change the absorber, etc.

ps: However, I have nothing against you if money is not a problem for you, i.e. you are a son of a millionaire, or you make profit of more than half a million per year.

pss: I don't think a millionaire will have time for this forum.

psss: I think a millionaire will not mod their car, since he can afford to buy a sport car.
