u seems to suffer the same problem my fren had with his 1 year old vios g 2007. if i remember correctly it's the wheel assembly problem. heard his 1 needs to take off even the break assembly n realign it to fix the issue. mayb u can ask sa to check for this. heard it's a noise that sounded like "tak tak tak" when u let the car roll without accelerating while u-turn.
*
Fren... u are absolutely right. If the turning make while u are driving then got no problem. If u stop... turn ur wheel... then accelerate... the sound will appear... how long ur fren car to get fix? After fix everything is alright? Might to tell which service center ur fren went? Thanks a lot. biggrin.gif

QUOTE(xenothrix @ Mar 18 2009, 03:16 PM)
didnt check back until today. it took him 2 visit since 1st visit was diverted due to the service center couldn't find the problem. urs is also realigning ur wheel assembly? mine is J manual. i will accelerate a bit during u-turn coz in manual the car wont roll by itself, touch wood so far still ok. anyhow, good to know urs got fixed within 1 day.
*
One day fixed only can last for half day. Aiks... I did it at Banting Service Center. Keep back my praise for toyota service center. Gonna send to HQ at PJ for checking purpose bcoz there got better facilities for them to check. The noise is annoying.

First I encounter the noise is when I stop my car... make any left or right turn... then accelerate... it will appear a "tak tak" noise... very annoying when parking or come out from parking. Went Banting service center twice but cant fix. Afterward go to PJ service center... the problem fix but have to leave ur car there for one full day.

After 2 weeks driving... now another problem came. When u stop in gear D condition... release the brake n then step on the brake... it will make the noise "keng.... keng..." I know there is a noise when u brake... but tis noise sound abnormal... Anyone experienced tis prob b4?

Haha... I also feel the Vios plastic is not as good as the old version Vios. By the way do u notice it is very noisy while driving? Bcoz I drive the Year 2006 Vios and Year 2008 Vios on the same road I can feel that the wind noise is louder for New Vios. Bcoz of this noise I purposely change my rims n tyres and it just get slightly better. How can I improve the silence in my car? Really annoying of tat noise.

You can do sound proofing for your car, by putting sound proof materials in between your car door, engine hood , ceiling and underneath your car, you can reduce wind noise, road noise ,engine noise and also tyre noise from the outside.  smile.gif

U do the sound proof for ur car?

my vios abit noisy when drove fast. will by doing 4 car doors (3 layers) + front bonnet soundproofing help?

Bro... if u do it I'm looking forward ur feedback. Not only drive fast... if u drive 30-40km/h on rough road surface it will be even worst. sweat.gif

Sometimes it depends on the wind direction also. Meaning on different day, 120kmh got noise, another day at same speed don't got noise.
*
I think wind noise is acceptable. The most concern is road noise. Try to acclerate to 30-40km/h n let go ur pedal... must off ur radio n windows... try to listen... u will notice tyre noise very loud. rclxub.gif

Yeah agree. A bit like that like. Wind noise sometimes got, sometimes not. I often get compliment from those riding in the car, saying the car is quiet but I usually disagree to them, hehe.

Another noise is the high-pitch whistling sound from your window, suspect there's a gap between window tip and rubber lining.
*
Maybe tis is the latest innovation technology by Toyota. Warn if u have over some speed. Faster u go higher pitch whistling u get. Haha. By the way... still looking the solution for road noise.

Road noise? Change to different tire brand lah. Mine will due soon. The stock Bridgestone was OK but not the best. Definitely going for Japanese models. I'm actively watching the threads on tire models and brands.
*
Haha... at the beginning I also thought it is from Tyres. I change to Michelin PP2. So do u think still the tyres? biggrin.gif

QUOTE(xenothrix @ Sep 4 2009, 10:54 AM)
i had this problem after i sent my car for tinting. bad workmanship caused the soup solvent like chemical slips behind the dashboard. however, i usually will let the windows open when just turn on aircon. received some forward mail saying the 1st bunch of air when u turn on ur aircon is kinda poisonous. but the smell that i m experiencing nvr go away. though nvr try asking toyota to check. only thing i can guess for ur issue is the filter box behind the glove box. it can only happen if condensation happens inside the box.

on a 2nd note, i m quite pissed with the suspension/tyre noise after about a year driving this vios. it feels like my previous 20 year-old corolla. i wonder if this only happens to J or owners of E,G,S also experiencing the same issue.

another 2 problem i m having:
1. feels the front wheel vibrate when braking from about 80~100km/h. not brake as in sudden braking, but normal braking when u go down from slope.
2. some belt is starting to make noise when first start engine in the morning or in the evening.
hvnt go back to toyota coz the problem is intermittent.
*
For ur braking noise... it is some noise like knocking when u press on the brake pedal. Sometimes u will feel like the brake is not functioning or something is moving n knocking on ur brake system. Send back to Toyota n the reason they give is RUSTY lar... DUSTY lar... really like w..t..f.. after fix... 2-3 weeks the same problem come back. mad.gif

For tyre noise they also cant do anything lar. They say since it dun affect safety lar... n all vios is liddat tis n tat. I even call Toyota Hotline to complain. They did follow up but end up DO NOTHING. Pls call n keep complaining as one person power is not enuff to push them to do some work. Hate the tyres noise a lot. Makes me go crazy if mix up v my radio music. mad.gif

QUOTE(baowen @ Sep 4 2009, 04:41 PM)
i experience both on my 2 week old VIOS J.
- when car idle with air cond turn off -> belt noise is quit obvious ( i assume toyota is using chain belt so the sound should be normal)
- i can easily hear the Tyre noise when driving, the sound reduce 50% when i change to different Tyre (  comparing with stock goodyear GT2 Tyre)

I suspect the sound proofing for the VIOS J is very lousy, because it is not as quiet as the 1st GEN VIOS.

need help >.<"
*
Nope... I'm driving E-spec after enhancement still face the same noise. I change to Michelin PP2 just slightly reduce the noise. What brand are u using now?

Toyota Service Center is damn fxxking money oriented. Went to shah alam branch today without appointment. Request for a Technician to check on my brake knocking noise they said appointment full. Then i tell them i can wait for 1 hour see whether there is a technician has some free time to check with me. The answer is all technician bz. Yeah... fxxk it. If i say i wan to service my car. Anytime also available. No Toyota... Ban Toyota...
