Hi sifus, looking for laptop recommendation, if possible those performance will not hugely affected after removing the battery, or those can support two charger bricks.

Budget: No limit

Specs: CPU Intel 12gen + 3070Ti / 3080Ti

Display: At least FHD/QHD, NTSC 72%/99%, 144Hz or above.
(most of the time will be using external monitor, but still good to have)

I/O Ports: 2 DP ports / USB-C supporting GSync

Preferable: Easy access to swap components and self-cleaning

Optional: Have at least one slot for 2.5inch HDD

1. Budget : around RM5k
2. Usage : CS, dota, movie, some video design
3. Requirements : not noisy and heated easily... will be good if it is international warranty and i will only stay in Malaysia 2 month per year. it will be best if it can last for 3 years before i move to next laptop.
below is what catch my eye but not sure which is better

Asus TUF Gaming F15 FX507Z-EHN055W
Asus ROG Zephyrus GA401Q-HHZ078TS
Asus ROG Strix G15 G513I-EHN051W
*
Asus offer International warranty, you can check with them for more details.
TUF is basically budget laptop
Zephyrus is slim laptop / creator laptop for certain model
Strix G is their medium-high end laptop
Strix Scar is their flagship laptop.

For Asus brand, i don't think the G model within RM 5k. Maybe yoi could check Lenovo Legion. Lenovo also support International warranty.

Hi sifu,

1st question:
Any idea the when the new 13Gen Intel laptops with 4080GPUs coming and be on sale in Malaysia?

2nd question:
My budget is RM7-8k
best i can see now is either Legion or Illegear laptops.

Any other recommendations? or should I wait for the new models?

Appreciate your help and insights
*
Asus ROG Strix G16 should be around 9K
Alienware M16 should be around 11K
Lenovo 7i Pro around 12K?? (maybe I'm wrong)
MSI GE68 don't have 4080
MSI GE78 should be around 15K

Hi all, would like to have suggestion for laptop.

Budget: Below 5k+
Usage: autocad, sketch up render (no gaming, just design)

Thanks.
*
Within RM 5K+ best deal you can get is AMD Ryzen + Nvidia GPU.
Mobile Workstation: ThinkPad P15

But if you does not required the workstation feature such as security, etc.
I suggest get Lenovo Legion 5 AMD + RTX 3060 instead.

Hi sifus
Can recommend an alternative to the MBP 14 which going for RM7899?
Any windows laptop can match in terms of value for screen/perf/battery life?
Using for occasional games/video+photo editing.
Light weight good screen and good battery life would be nice biggrin.gif

So far I know those laptop certified for display creator use are
Asus Zenbook
MSI Creator
Gigabyte Aero
Razer

I didn't do much deep insight on creator laptop, advice you can research by own, starting with the above mentioned laptop.

Hi all, once again Im returning to this thread for an updated recommendation. Maybe some of the sifu-sifu can help me out?

1. Budget             : RM6000
2. Usage              : Graphic Designing / Video Editing / Animation / Mid-High spec Gaming (No need 4k, 1080 is fine)
3. Requirements   :So a little bit of criteria that is requires from my end: Slim/Easily Portable, Large(ish) Battery life, 16GB if possible, preferable without numpad, good screen for designing and media consumption (Ive been spoilt by office macbook), Minimum 15" if possible (But I can always connect to external monitor). I plan to make it a desktop replacement as I'll be moving around quite a bit. Prefer to have a well-known brand that are easy to find replacement parts/servicing is easier.
4. Urgency            : ASAP as I am to do some freelance work by next week and dont have a portable machine.

Looking forward to any recommendations.

Lenovo Legion 5i Gen8 Slim. (But Malaysia model now doesn't have 32GB variant)

Lenovo LOQ = Asus TUF / Dell G
Lenovo Legion = Asus ROG Strix / Alienware M

If you looking budgeted, try get AMD CPU instead of Intel.
RTX 3050 should can drive old games SC1, but if refer to SC2, then 3060 would be more suitable

is MSI Katana GF66, suitable to play Genshin Impact very smoothly?
*
RTX 3060 should be no problem driving Genshin in 60FPS 1080p.
If you want to drive 120FPS 1080p / 1440p. You need at least RTX 3070 or above.

*subject to laptop thermal management

CLOSE TO older alienware.. not m16 /18
do u hv the hands on experience 1st?

I don't own the 5 Pro. But I did try use and check & feel the physical build side-by-side with 7 Pro during concept/showrooom.
I don't see & feel much differences.

Ya, maybe you're right. But i don't think Legion 5 Pro (not 5) is equivalent to Dell G series.

Sorry i don't research much on budget laptop.
Normally for budget laptop, I will flip the laptop and see its thermal cooling, and its built-in screen is SRGB 99% (I don't like 72%)
And you might also youtube check how it's the battery life.

Also most budget laptop price is roughly around the same price. The best thing you want is to have local service center near your area. Not advice to get those can be serviced in KL.
