I believe reliability will subject to own usage environment    There's several range of laptop within each brand that at least can work around it

My experience are certain Biz range are better if compare to Home range 

Personally reliability to me will be warranty offered, access to upgrade hardware & availability of components in market with reasonable cost (if wanna keep 3~5 years min.)

Depend... nowadays most high-tech are integrated and soldered on-board non upgrade-able 

It may last 5 years but by that time the technology shifted at least 3 times ahead 

I think let go would be cheaper option further it's 4+ yo... but there's some option to get certain range of laptop if you're going portable

You may want to look into prefer screen size, storage, CPU/GPU/RAM, battery as such

Although reliability depends on brand sometimes, but with knowledge you can mitigate it. Undervolting, run on power saving, disable boost when not needed, remove battery when on desk, monitor the temperature, clean the heatsink fan regularly can make a difference for longevity. I go so much that I even BIOS modded it to unlock all setting in BIOSes. Some newer laptop can't undervolt for some reason because OEM locked it oddly like the laptop I currently using.

On software side you can reduce system processes, Windows 10 and 11 are notorious with tons of processes, telemetry and such that makes hard for system to even idle. Read around (reddit a good start) how and what can you do to reduce it so your system can idle and reduce strain on hardware. Just yesterday I reduce like 40+ processes on my laptop so it won't use so much RAM at idle. Make paging file small and static and on bigger SSD so it won't eat too much write cycle

I don't believe in laptop gaming but I do buy ASUS FX506HCB with RTX3050 for gaming when I'm away. Yeah its the weakest RTX available but if you used to low end GPU you know it weakness, like reducing shadows setting I can play CP2077 with ray tracing at 1080p with DLSS set on balanced with around 40-70fps. That isn't bad and good enough for me to be happy with it. i5 11400H is good enough to handle RTX3050 even without boost when gaming at 1080p so that reduces strain on power brick, VRM and temperature.

That is how I taking care of my laptop. Though it sound a bit extreme, but I used to drill holes on laptops to make the fan get more air so the things I done is mild nowadays more towards software rather than hardware mods

If so maybe not much Window OS related why don't you try a tablet then? either Android or Apple, used Android tablet myself for such activities and some mobile's games

I used to have Lenovo Yoga Duet 7i for quite some time before let-go to fund my desktop, it was great experience and powerful enuf to tackle my task

I use lenovo for personal, be sure to check the review, the model i bought has crappy camera lol, the quality is same as those pre-3G smartphone lol. totally unusable.
Performance wise it's cheap consider the CPU is 6800HS and 680m, 16GB and 512GB micron SSD.

While at work i use Dell tablet, camera is top notch.

Gaming lappy is always good, but sure to watch out some model comes with low RAM and SSD capacity,

SSd capacity seems alright, but RAM too small, 16 GB is sweet spot, for 8GB ram you cant leave any background task if you plays game, Windows 11 will eat 25 to 50%
Abnormal things such as crash/force-close will occur due to lack of ram.

What kind of games are you playing?
If not graphic heavy can consider non-gaming lappy

Low end gaming laptop design cost all go to high refresh rate display and big cooler ,then they squeeze last cost to ram, that's what's you get for 8gb ram.

if you get AMD model, you can choose RTX 3060 variant, it's overal better than Asus tuf lappy at same price.
