Budget: around 5k

Usage: abit docker, virtualisation, coding, software dev. otherwise just general use. No gaming

Requirement:

13 or 14 inch
prefer Lenovo, esp Thinkpad but other brands also welcomed
16gb RAM min
512gb SSD min
no need ultra thin laptops
I am thinking T14 (AMD) or X13, but sifus might be able to recommend better one. T14 looks good but it is sold out in Lenovo site.
*
Docker, virtualisation. Your baseline is 32 GB memory, and at least 1 TB SSD. The VMs will "eat" up memory and space significantly. Once you bring up the VM, the CPU load will goes up big chunk.

Coding on 13inch LCD is probably too small. 14 is probably ok, 15.6 is better.

Ouch, dont think can get such specs with budget 5k right? Any recommendation?
*
Can consider get the base spec, then upgrade the RAM and disk yourself. This is much cheaper than getting with the bundle. Getting RAM and SSD is cheaper (a lot) compared with the bundle. Set aside about 1k, can get you 32 GB RAM and 2 TB SSD disk, or 32 GB RAM and 1 TB high performance SSD.

Hi, please recommend a laptop for office use (excel, word etc) and light gaming, budget 2-2.5k

Another note is it worth to buy refurbish laptops.
*
Refurbished unit has risk (little to no warranty). It's a lot cheaper. However, unit is almost undiscernible from new. I got mine (15" AMD 5 5500U for abt RM 1.3k after currency conversion excluding shipping/tax) from US Walmart via HSG/DHL. Use as spare laptop. During US sale, you can really get good discounts.

is this good? or got better and cheaper 1s ?
*
RAM is onboard.

Low budget, can consider HP, lots cheaper. RAM is upgradable, 2 slots. Typically comes with 2 yrs on-site, 1 yr ITW. Only thing is the keyboard is either you like it or don't, especially the silver colour model. Certain angles, quite difficult to see the keyboard letter markings.

I'm looking at Honor Magicbook X15 and 15 AMD for senior citizen usage. Mostly for FB and Youtube and Shopee.

Is the i5-10210U (RM2300) or Ryzen 5 5500U (RM2100) better?

Thanks!
*
Ryzen 5500U is much better. Lot faster.

NVIDIA® GeForce RTX™ 3050 Ti 4GB GDDR6
8GB SO-DIMM DDR4-3200 Ram (Upgradable)
512GB SSD M.2 2242 PCIe NVMe 3.0×4 (Extra HDD slot)

Windows 11 Home
2 Years Lenovo Premium Care Onsite Warranty

Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3 15IHU6 82K1010PMJ

RM3,849 (Discounted), Normal Price RM4,199

Worth the price for gaming laptop budget around 3.5k?
*
Spec wise looks ok. Price wise goes up and up. Used to cost less than rm 3.5k. Suggest AMD ones. Intel ones may run hot and drain the battery faster, IMHO.

Same battery size, 5800H Vs 5800 U, which will have better battery life?
Integrated Radeon graphic Vs mx450, which is better?
*
Take note that both are glossy display. Something to consider. Matte display is usually better IMHO, without those light reflections.

Both are non-upgradable RAM.

If you are on the go, then take note of the laptop weight.

Looks good. But do they have one with matte display? Glossy display is difficult to view in outdoor or office lightning.

Spec wise, Lenovo seems better value. 13th gen CPU, better display color gamut and 1 TB SSD. And larger battery according to their website spec respectively.

Please kindly recommend me a bang for the buck 14" everyday laptop below RM2500. Brand does not matter.
*
Best bang for the buck IMHO is HP laptop AMD 7530U 16GB 512GB, 1.7k during sale. 10.10 sale is coming. Start rajin collecting voucher lo.

Or HP AMD 5300U 8GB 512GB, 1.4k during sale. Both models comes with backpack and TnG eWallet redeem depending on seller promo.

Any recommendation for new laptop price around RM 2,500.00 for secondary school student?

Any chance to get a so call gaming laptop with this price range?
*
Gaming laptop branded ones, not possible. Please do check online. Unless you are being offered something refurbished or AP units.

2.5k for secondary school students can get good deal from Lenovo or HP. Ideapad 3 12450H or HP 7530U models. The Ideapad is better quality. Lazada sale now. Can get around 1.8k to 2.2k after discount/voucher.

HP laptop, you get what you paid for, really. It gets the job done though. My kids are using HP for their uni/school stuff. Myself using HP for office work. Nothing fancy. You can consider HP 15-fc0082A or 83A model. Lazada sellers about RM 2.2-5k range. During sales, can get as low as RM 1.7k.

Have Acer, Asus, Dell, MSI, Lenovo laptops before and currently. Sharing my experience ya.

Budget <5k
Used to mostly watch netflix, youtube, surfing, simple photo or video editing
Must be lightweight.
If possible need the refresh rate dont lag when watching action movies

My eyes aint as good as last time
Makasih for advises🙏

Any laptop with screen brightness of at least 300 nits 100% sRGB (72% NTSC), anti-glare 60Hz and above will do.

For me, DIY, I get the cheapest laptop and then upgrade (DIY) the screen to 400 nits 100% sRGB, 144 Hz. Still cost less than 2.7k. With 16 GB RAM and 2 TB disk. 15.6".

If your eyes are priority, suggest you get 300 nits at least 100%sRGB. It's miles different than those stock screen (mostly) 250 nits, VA/TN panels, 45% NTSC. Avoid glossy screen, they do look fantastic but long term use the glare will be annoying.

Hi there, looking for a new laptop to replace the old one.

1. Budget :less than 2k, cheaper the better
2. Usage : microsoft words/powerpoint, media, internet surfing, online classes, no gaming
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : 15.6", decent battery life and screen quality. Want a laptop than can last me for another 5 years or more

Currently looking at these:

1. Check out HP 15S-EQ2195AU/15S-EQ2196AU/15S-EQ2197AU/R3-5300U/8GB/512GB SSD/15 [Free Backpack] at 29% off! RM1,799.00 only. Get it on Shopee now! https://shp.ee/vq2x9x8

2. Check out Lenovo IdeaPad 1 15.6" R3-7320U | 8GB RAM|512GB SSD| W11H| OFFICE H&S| 2YR WTY|82VG0036MJ-Grey 37MJ -Sand| FOC: Backpac at 31% off! RM1,592.00 only. Get it on Shopee now! https://shp.ee/uh77emd

3. Dell refurbished laptops?

4. Any other recommendations are welcome.

Thanks

For laptop anything below 17", avoid QHD really. It won't do any justice to the screen size. Unless you are kiasu for pixel count then go for it. QHD and above will be more relevant for external monitor size 24" and above.

Avoid the HP 15S-EQ2195AU or the 7300x/7520x series, these unlikely to meet your long term requirements. Look for 7530U at least of the HP range or similar. IdeaPad there is 1 model with 300 nits screen, but not 100% sRGB. HP ones usually 250 nits for the budget series. Or wait for next Lazada/Shopee sale, the discount is worth it.

Thank you, what about intel i5? Any series to avoid?
*
Intel 1335U and above, power efficiency.

Or Intel 125450H and above, power hungry series. Typically paired with NVIDIA GPU. Or the latest 13th gen H series.
