Thinkpad E series? but only 1yr warranty

Hi, recently I have decided to purchase the Lenovo Legion 5 but after further enquiring most suppliers do not have ready stock at the moment.

reliability which could last me for at least 4 - 5 years

if reliability is your main concern, consumer grade laptops are not for u

Hi, i'm helping my aunt to research for her next laptop purchase. She has been using the Thinkpad T420 which should be around 10 years now.

As Dell is not likely to compete with the Thinkpad in terms of build, she'll most likely stick to Thinkpad. Budget is around 6k. I've tried to narrow down to Thinkpad T14 and P14s but figure the Quadro GPU is not necessary. Is there any potential alternative for Thinkpad T14? No wait time. At least 16GB RAM.

Also she is not convinced with the reliability of the AMD chip yet. Any advice i should let her know? Is the premium worth it for the Intel chip?

Thanks!
*
Dell has Latitude which can compete with Thinkpad

get Intel CPU then

Can we consider Lenovo Ideapad flex 5 is the best for daily use?
*
if u have a tight budget and must need a 2in1, it's an ok option
QUOTE(HexPhoenix @ Sep 23 2021, 06:36 PM)
1. Budget: Strictly below RM5k. Around mid RM4k is good.

2. Usage: Work + casual game.

Game - more on strategy stuffs. Civ 6, Humankind if possible. Low graphic is okay, but as long not stressing the CPU and GPU much. Can run FIFA21 would be great (low setting is okay, as long FPS is acceptable).

3. Requirement: If possible, ultrabook. Love the lightweight of it and the light charger.
RAM is upgradable to at least 32GB.
Internal storage of 256GB NVME is okay, but 512GB would be nice. Extra slot to add extra SSD later would be be best.

Hi sifu plz recommend me a reliable budget laptop. My Acer 3 yrs only already give so many problems. No Acer plz.

1. Budget : <2k
2. Usage   : check email, update resume and some excel stuff. Watch online stream.
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : must be reliable not spoil in 3 yrs.
*
want reliable will not be cheap

below 2k really dun hav decent options, unless u fine with used
QUOTE(xxboxx @ Sep 23 2021, 10:11 PM)
Hi sifu, can recommend me 2 in 1 tablet or laptop?
Budget 4k, can still go few hundreds higher.
Requirement: touch screen, pen, at least 4c8t, HDMI or USB-C display output. I guess with TPM 2 since Win 11 needs it.

Few post up someone mention Lenovo Ideapad Flex 5. Now is less than 4k, is this the best value 2 in 1? The ship time is more than 10 weeks though, usually it will really take this long?

I also saw Asus ZenBook Flip 13, OLED screen makes it tempting. But 8GB RAM only.
*
Surface quality is meh, Flex 5 dun hav good build

wait time?

*
no
QUOTE(FarEast91 @ Sep 24 2021, 01:02 PM)
1. Budget : MYR 4k - 5k
2. Usage  : primarily is a WHF setup with secondary have to go to the office / meet clients. mainly going to connect to a usb c hub to two 1080p monitors. when at home I don't need to run the laptop monitor as well, planning to set up so that closing the lid will still run the laptop. light gaming (indie games and old AAA games), as long as stable 60fps; for work some times have to open huge excel files; hobby level digital drawing but no need for very accurate screen since that's what my external monitor is for. sometimes have to go out and meet clients to open MS office stuff.
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : prefer 15" for easier time if I have to work away from my home setup. battery life should at least last half a work day. weight 2kg and under. willing to sacrifice a bit of performance for portability. would love to be able to charge via usb c.

EDIT: no problem waiting 1 month or more.

EDIT2: fine with older model, but planning to use laptop at least 3 years.

not sure phasmo can run at low settings with iGPU or not

can take a look at Thinkpad L15 G2 AMD, though battery capacity isn't amazing

From my own research it seems some configuration of the Legion 5 might be suitable based on my other requirement.

alternatives: Thinkpad L13 G2 AMD / L14 G2 AMD / L15 G2 AMD

can buy cheaper in website but need to wait

I'll give consideration to it, since I might have missed a few.

If u prefer 15 inch, can consider Ideapad 5i 15 customize with MX450. Not recommending retail model of IP5i bcoz of 8GB non upgradeable RAM. Or Ideapad 5 Pro 16 82L5008JMJ (retail), but not sure got stock or not.

If fine with 14 inch, can consider Ideapad 5 Pro 14 customize with MX450. Or even Zephyrus G14

Decent battery life would be a bonus

Somehow I am doubtful about Acer in gaming laptops. I know the specs are good, but what about the built up? and got heating issue?

I am actually favoring Asus ROG Strix G15 CHN042T, can you comment about this? I was originally looking at CHN020T but it seems like everywhere out of stock and they came up with a new model CHN042T but older processer =/

Thanks ahead!

u mean build quality? nothing special

cooling is alright, perf is entry level since there is no MUX and only 95W 3060

don't buy 3050 over RM4k, even a slow 3060 is much faster
