Berbaloi for me because it is the most used cooking items since I bought it during beginning of MCO 1.0

I bought the khind brand one and not Philips as it is easier to put things. It looks like regular oven instead of the pull out tray type.

Pros:
- Can reheat fast food like fries and chicken and it'll turn those soggy mess back to crispy

Cons:

It's a great invention. Food tend to be crispier and you can really see the oil coming out of it. If I buy kepsi or nandos ..I will reheat and u see the oil collected at the basket ..Jesus just too much.

If you find the food to be dry ..what I do is put 50ml of water into the basket when I air fry chickens etc ..it will retain some moisture on the food....especially when I air fry broccoli....it becomes kering kontang so the water gives it some moisture so it's green and soft

honestly its alot easier on things that u can use

when you use oil to fry, usually you will need to do alot of cleaning, unless you have outdoor kitchen, and its more dangerous to use oil(accident do happen), also more healthy if you use less oil

airfryer = making overnight KFC feels fresh.

microwave and airfryer is the best thing for the kitchen. both might cost you only less than 1 k.

I am not sure about healthiness but definitely less oil if you need to fry things but the food tend to be a lot dryer than using oil to fry. Initially, you might not like it but after awhile you will get used to it and it does not really change the taste. Only the dryness because we’re used to eating fried things with oil.

Some say its good in cooking those already prepared frozen fried products.

How about frying freshwater fish? Kinda lazy to put so much oil in the pan to fry, every time oil pops out onto the floor.

Bought early gen philips air fryer in 2016/17 for rm700+...very syok but super noisy, can fight my cheap ass hood. Last year wife bought cheap rm200 russel taylor air fryer, suprisingly super quite, did not even notice if it is running or not if you did not sit close by, but can do the same job as philips. So decided to give the old philips to relative, keep the russel taylor. Not sure the noise level for latest gen philips though

Good also. I cook salmon and siakap with it.

Use foil for fish. Salmon produces too much oil.

when you say it's dry.. very obvious

1) it's either you skip the defrost step
2) you did not spray some oil in it

i did those mistakes when i first started using air fryer when phillips launch their first model back in 2012/2013? since then i have been using air fryer only. now CUBIE XL though.

PS: i don't goreng food at home too.. uses too much oil - waste too much oil - and my apartment will stink as a result.

I just dont like the size of the one you show. A bit too small, unless you bujang.

I have one buffalo brand, it is now relegated to just two things, chicken wings and chicken chop. And occasionally some baking.

i disagree. Chicken takes less time (almost half the time) to cook in air fryer so less moisture lost compared to oven.

like some say, you need to buy the oil spray in order for it not to be too dry. but that spray then is an added cost. but the good thing is, you put in, set time and cal walk away rather than need to watch over it like traditional frying.

but i still think they dont taste as good. and see the design, some can be difficult to wash. yeah they do sell those non stick paper etc, but end up more and more thing in your kitchen

OK. Bought early gen philips one (no digital, all manual dials). Easy for meal prep since we are working parent and busy kids. Every morning wake up just pop whatever for kids lunches. They know how to reheat. Even in MCO they still prefer their meals to be air fryer prepared sweat.gif

Clean up a bit leceh lah - i just threw mine into dishwasher once or twice a week. Once in a while have to "steam clean" - its in the instructions.

i have 1 of the similar design at home thats why i suggested it

its actually easy to clean if you ignore the heating element, which is on the top, usually things dont go to the top, unless you put wrong thing into the fryer, ie powder.

cause when fryer start, air will circulate, if you put something with alot of powder, then they might blow upwards, then its your problem, like putting iron into washing machine, dont blame the washing machine go kaboom.

liquid or oil will just drip downwards, usually you have a tray at very bottom to collect oil, all you need is wash that frequently, and sometimes wipe the internal (leave the heating element on top untouched), and do not do it while its hot, its alot easier compare to use oil to deep fry, ALOT EASIER.

but how you keep your oil/left over oil? don't tell me you pour all of it into the basin every time you deep fry something ah.

storing left over oil is something from the past unless you still do them but definitely not for me.

Bought airfyer 7 years ago, still using it today.

Oven cook taste better.

Airfyer does contribute to healthy eating because it drains out any fats or oil.

Airfryer is good for if you dont want to waste time but it doesnt taste as good when deep frying.

Make sure you have good circulation in the house otherwise you will have a smog.

The net is kind hard to clean so make sure you have tin foils.

Make sure to clean and check it regularly because small cockroaches can get into it and they love leftover oil.

cause when fryer start, air will circulate, if you put something with alot of powder, then they might blow upwards, then its your problem, like putting iron into washing machine, dont blame the washing machine go kaboom.

liquid or oil will just drip downwards, usually you have a tray at very bottom to collect oil, all you need is wash that frequently, and sometimes wipe the internal (leave the heating element on top untouched), and do not do it while its hot, its alot easier compare to use oil to deep fry, ALOT EASIER.
*
that's why i say just get the one from buffalo.. i think it will solve the mentioned problem. Like it or not the phillips air fryer you have to clean the top over time.. both the basket and the top is a pain for cleaning anyway that's why i'm using cubie XL at the moment it's an ALL in one. Only drawback is.. using an air fryer it needed less time... salmon for instance.. 22 minutes vs 15 minutes. and cubie i need to preheat few more mins there

if you use them daily like i do.. i don't even need to follow their manual or guide anymore.
but how you keep your oil/left over oil? don't tell me you pour all of it into the basin every time you deep fry something ah.

storing left over oil is something from the past unless you still do them but definitely not for me.

well if you able to know if the food is cooked or not without looking at it, then go ahead, im not a pro, i prefer to see whats happening than just guess
*
Start with the preset and soon you know what food works well and what don't and for how long. Chicken and pork works well. You should try the crispy skinned roasted pork etc. Fish, traditional frying with oil still far better. For big whole chicken roasting, still need the oven.

the problem is with how do you take care of the left over oil? if you pouring it into the basin.. i suggest you to stop doing that.. in a long run it will clog up the pipe and give you more trouble..

PS: don't pour oil in especially when it's hot.. hot oil + cold water it will form layers of unwanted fat much quicker.

Definitely worth it, it's a life changer for lazy people like me. It encourages healthy eating too(since no dry with oil)

Bagus sebab tak perlu menunggu depan kuali semasa menggoreng french fries, nuggets, dll. Letak dlm air frier, set timer, kemudian boleh blah dan buat kerja masing2.. Bila air frier dah berbunyi, dah boleh makan fries, dll.

How many recipe you have? You remember each setting for each of them?

I only remember fries and nugget so far, use air fryer for one month

Still will need experiment with the settings everytime you cook something else you never cook

The food tend to be dryer, but wrap your food in aluminium foil will solve the problem.

it's not about recipe but the meat you gonna cook with..

i'm using air fryer but it's a Panasonic Cubie hence it differs to the amount of time needed in a phillips air fryer.

to start off with the basic.. pretty simple..
salmon 22 minutes on my air fryer. (15 on phillips air fryer if i'm not mistaken)
chicken 25-28 minutes depending on how big piece of a chicken you putting in ya.. whole chicken crank it up to 30-33 (18-22 minutes on phillips air fryer)
beef, after pan seared 3-4 minutes then pop it into your cubie for approx 8 minutes. (you can't air fry your beef.. hahaha)

Once you get the basic of how long it needs to cook your meat/veg you really no longer need to worry about the menu/option/setting.
PS: when i first started using the phillips air fryer.. it's the analog menu where i can control only the timing nia.. like a countdown timer. haha

I was like you doubting the air fryer. So i just got mine from Astro Go Shop last week. Khind. RM179. Paid RM139 after discounts & points.

Been using it for a week. No major frying yet just hotdogs/nuggets/heating up stuffs. Its true abt the crispiness/ extra oil that comes out. So thats good.
Its also true that the food texture is drier.

Overall would reckon, start with a cheap one just to get the feel of it. Once dah pro then upgrade it in a year or two.

https://shopee.com.my/PHILIPS-HD9270-XL-DIG...5696.6562070094

and new design also

Rules of thumb for air fryer ..always get latest release of product..sometime new mid range is better than older gen high end

brah you don't need to flip it or anything.. it's not a pan where you have to cook both sides.. the air fryer circulates the heat which evenly cooks the meat on all side.

Used to have this one too. I think this is old tech, it heat the air but doesn't increase the pressure

Longer time cooking but a lot bigger, can cook a lot more portion

air fryer is ok, more towards convenience for cooking frozen foods like nuggets, fries, sausages, etc
i suggest you take the one that's just simple temperature and timer ones. they're much harder to spoil compared to computerized stuffs.
once you know the time/temperature, you can just plop in some nuggets/fries, take a bath or do whatever, and then come back it's ready to eat.

i think it's basically its how the design of the conventional air fryer vs cubie. phillips air fry design they really have the air circulated evenly through out the whole space while cubie, it's basically an oven design air doesn't get circulated like how it happens in an air fryer. i've moved from cubie mini > XL all because it's an all in one device, from convection, frementation, steam, air fry.. it's just a much more versatile device with only drawback air frying wait longer lo.

This is basically layman trying to understand both devices ya.. more precise answer maybe should google up and check.

i think it's basically its how the design of the conventional air fryer vs cubie. phillips air fry design they really have the air circulated evenly through out the whole space while cubie, it's basically an oven design air doesn't get circulated like how it happens in an air fryer. i've moved from cubie mini > XL all because it's an all in one device, from convection, frementation, steam, air fry.. it's just a much more versatile device with only drawback air frying wait longer lo.

This is basically layman trying to understand both devices ya.. more precise answer maybe should google up and check.

If you are buying a cheap one, pick one that uses dial controls. Those with panels and button only tend to harden and difficult to press after long term usage.

health concern brah. myself always eat steam stuff (which always taste worse than fried food), so bosan already.
deep fry increase calories alot, so need to find something in the middle that taste okay but healthier than deep fry.

how about stir fry? well i lazy want to cut chicken into smaller piece.

all things in moderation bro.

we won't live forever and if we can't even enjoy our food, better not live lah. he he he.

but seriously, our bodies can handle a moderate amount of unhealthy food as long as we don't go overboard

Nah ayam belanja my daily malas recipe

1. Cincang garlic (berapa biji suka hati)
2. Gaul garlic with butter (butter at room temperature lagi senang nak mix). Then add in any herbs u have, ayam suka letak thymes & oregano
3. Sapu atas roti, then letak shredded mozarella or parmesan
4. Then bakar using air fryer for 7 minutes at 180 degree

If extra rajin
Repeat step 1-3
But letak some tomatoes prego sauce and peperroni
Jadi la instant pizza

Selamat mencubaaaaa
