For me, during my first interview i didnt even mention salary. In the interview i straight said the company current problem and how i can help them solve the problem, even went ahead and create a proposal for the company. My current boss like it so much during second interview even call ceo listen to my proposal. In the end i got the salary i wanted and will raise after 3 month if my performance is good. IMO, candidate during interview should propose how they can help the company solve their problem, not wait interviewer ask u question. Becuz in the end, your job should be the one who help the company solve problem, not create problem for the company.
