I remember hearing that if you eat durian and drink alcohol you will die. I can confirm that doesn’t happen but you will have trouble sleeping at night from being too heaty unless you drink enough to pass out.

the sulphur rich compounds like disulfiram of durian inhibit aldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme up to 70% at low concentration.

alcohol(toxic) when consumed will be converted to acetyldehyde(toxic) and later to acetate(less toxic).

durians disulfiram stop the aldehyde dehydrogenase enzyme, so the acetyldehyde accumlates and lethal.

so it is dont eat durian before and after drink alcohol(depends how fast ur body converts the alcohol)

even if you do not die, you will not feel good after doing so

majority of the durians, especially current ones (genetically modified to be more sweet and heavier taste etc) - have some alcohol content in it (natural fermentation) - thats why the smell is strong, abit gassy when you open it, thats why some ppl eat d feel heaty (like after drink wine, face flushed) or become "high high"
